HITAM verifies admission through an online counselling process on merit basis. The shortlisted students are offered admission by a letter, following which they are required to come to campus with original documents for verification and make the provisional admission payment to confirm their seat.

National Board of Accreditation (NBA) has given HITAM's BTech programmes their stamps of approval. Particularly, accreditation for CSE, ECE and EEE programmes is good until 2025, while MECH programmes are rated from 2022 to 2025. The purpose of accreditation is to confirm that the programs have quality in their curriculum, teachers, facilities and results.
