Criteria of admission changes every year and one can not be certain about the criteria in the future. However one thing that has been consistent is that if you have less than 80% in graduation, you are severely disadvantaged, but with good CAT score you can still make it. I would suggest you should try to push your graduation percentage to over 80 in the final year. Admission in IIMA will be easier then.

It is not necessary to have a work experience before joining IIMs. The difference is that few IIMs give extra marks for applicants with work experience, which makes their chances of getting admission, slightly higher.

To compensate for that you will need to score a little more in CAT. Typically 99.5 percentile is enough to get anyone a call from IIM (with similar academic background). However to be safe I would suggest that you target 99.7 percentile.

Also you will need to clear the individual subject cutoff which typically is around 95 percentile. For others like FMS you will need 98.5 percentile. For new IIMs these could be 95-96 percentile. I would suggest you contact alums/students of the school you are targeting to get an accurate answer.

Fee of IIMs range between 6 lakhs per year to around 10 lakhs per year. PGDM is two years course. However there are several scholarships available.
