Candidates seeking admission to IIM Bangalore MBA course must appear for CAT. It is mandatory for candidates to meet the sectional and overall CAT cutoff to be eligible for the Writing Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds for final admission to IIM Bangalore. For IIM Bangalore MBA admission, students need to meet both the overall CAT cut off percentile and the sectional cut offs. Candidates seeking admission to IIM Bangalore must score above the 90 percentile in CAT exam. IIM Bangalore does not release CAT cutoffs in the public domain and are exclusively accessible only via account login to candidates who have appeared for the exam. Therefore, the students must aim to score above 90 percentile.

Admission to the PGP course is based on CAT score. Candidates are shortlisted for the WAT and PI round on the basis of their performance in the CAT, scholastic achievement and relevant work experience. CAT is the computer-based test conducted for providing admission to PGP courses. For shortlisting, both sectional and overall CAT cutoffs are considered. IIM Bangalore admission 2024 is completely entrance-based. Admission to the flagship course, i.e., MBA of IIM Bangalore, is based on a valid score in the CAT exam. The CAT exam has three sections: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Aptitude (QA). CAT syllabus is often said to be more engineer-friendly, but the truth is that apart from Quantitative Aptitude, no other topic of the CAT syllabus is such that students from the non-Engineering background cannot crack. In fact, even the Quantitative Aptitude section includes advanced-level Mathematics topics studied in Class 9-10. All that the candidates need to do is brush up on the fundamentals of the topics included in the syllabus from the CAT study material. In order to aim for the 99.99 percentile in the CAT exam, candidates must understand the exam pattern well, so that their selection of questions ensures they solve the paper with an overall accuracy of 100 percent. CAT is a speed and accuracy test. Practice as many CAT question papers and mock tests as you can to improve speed and accuracy. In this last phase of CAT preparation, focus completely on mock tests and revision. This is the crucial time when you can take your CAT score from 95 to 99 percentile.

The CAT shortlisting process begins in the first or the second week of January after the result has been announced. The IIM shortlisting process starts with every IIM releasing the shortlist cut off and inviting candidates to fill the PI shortlist form. The candidates have to fill the Personal Interview form if they meet the eligibility criteria. It is reflected in the application form dashboard when they login with their CAT ID. In the PI form, candidates have to fill the following details: 1. Candidate details 2. CAT ID 3. CAT score 4. Academic details/work experience etc. The shortlist panel analyses every form and select candidates for the What-PI round. Those who are selected for the What-PI round, are informed via an email. IIM Bangalore Hostel fees are INR 80,000 for a single student and INR 3.76 lakh for family accommodation.
