On Fees and Eligibility
Q:   What is the CAT cutoff required to get into IIM Bangalore?
A:

IIM Bangalore considers two kinds of CAT scores for MBA admission - Qualifying and Final score. Qualifying CAT score is the minimum sectional and overall CAT score used to shortlist students for the Analytical Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. Candidates above minimum cutoffs in the sectional percentile ranks, the overall percentile rank and having a positive (greater than zero) raw score in all sections of CAT are considered for the next stage. The final CAT score is cutoffs are the basis of which the candidates are called for final selection after the AWT and PI rounds are over.

Q:   Can an average student get into an IIM?
A:

The answer to this question of whether an average student can get into IIM can be both yes and no depending on the definition of an average student.

  • Based on Academics (Class 10/ Class 12/ Graduation): While a student with average scores in Class 10, Class 12 and graduation with a good CAT score certainly has good chances of getting a call from IIM-A, chances are less for someone with an average CAT score.
  • Based on student category (General or Reserved): While it is tough for a General category average student to grab a seat at IIM due to high score requirements, a reserved category student can get admission being at average scores as well.
  • Based on past work experience, diversity and other factors: Gender and academic diversity is also a factor on which students are shortlisted at IIM. IIMs judge the past academic category based on the degree obtained by the students before MBA and then a weightage is allotted based on that. For Engineers, the percentage for scoring the highest marks is higher as compared with other streams
  • Performance in selection rounds: Once you make it to the final selection rounds, i.e., AWT/PI process, it can be considered a fresh start. At this stage, students can forget their past average-ness but definitely require good grasp over the past subjects as academics-related questions are asked in the interview.

Based on the above factors, it can be considered that while getting into top Management institutes, such as IIM is extremely tough, the past performance, CAT performance, student category and a lot of factors can be the reasons for a student to receive that final call.

It's a comprehensive course for students, very gen-zfied
Learning Experience: The course is very relevant to our day-to-day life and the industry's needs. We get to learn many creative subjects like accounts, coding, building a venture from 250, and UI/UX. The level of skills and guidance that is provided here is unimaginable. It provides you with an upper edge over a normal BBA, where it is only about the old-school rigorous subjects.
Placements: They haven't guaranteed placements, but yeah, people are getting very good opportunities through it, like someone is going for an educational trip to Japan, internships, and even one of my friends is going to Russia through that.
Faculty: They have one of the best faculties all over India. The lectures and the tests are very comprehensive, testing the needs and satisfying the learning aspects in one of the most prestigious Institutes in India. The course has a trimester system in one year, with 3 semesters.
Course Support: The management is very managed and guided, as their response is quick and helpful. The course support is nice, you also get a forum to discuss the topic and share your views, and we also have doubt sessions with the professors, which is very useful to me.

The campus life at IIM Bangalore was amazing, with youth fests, fairs, and cultural programs organized by the college on a regular basis. Sports facilities and opportunities were given to students, and the food quality in the mess and canteen was average.
Faculty: Teachers were well-experienced and dedicated to their duties. They were very helpful and polite towards students. Faculty members at IIM Bangalore were selected from top candidates all over India. Their teaching style was relatable to the corporate sector, the curriculum was totally relevant, and the passing percentage was 45%.

IIM Bangalore Course and Fee FAQs 2025

Q:   What is the last date to apply for IIM Bangalore?
A:

For admission year 2024 for the flagship PGP course, CAT 2023 registration went on between Aug 2 and Sep 20. The exam will be conducted on November 26, 2023. For E-PGP, however, the applications for R-1 began in June and the closure of R-3 applications will take place in November. For the 2023 PhD batch, applications started in Jul 26, 2023 and will go on till to Jan 25, 2024. For details, students are advised to visit the official website and apply online.

Q:   What score is needed in CAT to get admission in IIM Bangalore?
A:
Unlike other IIM's, IIM Bangalore gave very high weightage to previous academic performance over CAT score. Your previous academic profile looks well and good to get a call for GD/PI if you score 97+ percentile in CAT. All the best.
Q:   Does IIM Bangalore consider 12th marks?
A:

No matter how much a student secures in Class 12, IIM Bangalore, while shortlisting candidates for MBA follows a normalization process and gives weightage to all exam scores, i.e., Class 10, Class 12 or graduation. The process of normalisation is explained below:

  1. For IIM Bangalore PGP admission, a shortlist will be prepared comprising the names of candidates who have secured a pre-determined minimum score on all sections of CAT.
  2. All the subsequent processing, standardization and selection are limited to candidates selected to the first short list alone. Therefore, the CAT score alone is used as the basis for arriving at the first short list
  3. For all candidates in the first shortlist, a candidate’s percentage scores in the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams are adjusted by dividing each such score by the 90th percentile score obtained in that board. For this purpose, the database of Class 10 and Class 12 scores of all CAT applicants of the past two years is used for identifying the 90th percentile score for each Class 10 and Class 12 scores board.

Q:   When will CAT 2023 result be declared for IIM Bangalore admission?
A:

For admission to IIM Bangalore for the flagship MBA (or PGP) course, the result of CAT 2023 can be expected by the last week of December 2023 (If the CAT conducting body follows the trend as in 2022). However, if the trend is not followed, the same will most probably be out by the first week of January 2024. After the release of result, the exam takers will be able to download their CAT scorecards from the official website using their login credentials for IIM Bangalore admission.
