Admission Process 2025: Eligibility and Selection
The five-year BS-MS programme is the flagship programme of the IISER and requires to have passed Class 12 with the relevant stream, while PhD admission requires a Master's degree. Apart from that, the institute also offers two PG level professional courses in Biological Data Science, and Data Science & Artificial Intelligence.
The IISER exam is three hours long and consists of questions from four subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. Below are the IISER eligibility and selection criteria details for some of the IISER Tirupati courses:

IISER Tirupati Fee & Seat 2025
IISER Tirupati fee includes multiple components, such as registration, tuition fee, hostel fee, medical, library, amenities and other security deposits, etc. The fees vary for General and SC/ST categories students. IISER Tirupati Seat Reservation 2025
The chain of seven IISER institutes, includes IISER Pune, IISER, IISER Thiruvananthapuram, IISER Tirupati, IISER Kolkata, IISER Berhampur and IISER Mohali. At all IISERs, reservations for students belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ Other Backward Classes (OBC) Non-Creamy Layer/ Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Persons with Disability (PWD) will be applicable as per the Government of India rules. Candidates belonging to reservation categories will have to submit relevant certificates if selected.

Steps for IISER Tirupati Admission Process 2025
Interested candidates seeking admission to IISER courses can apply online by filling out an application form. Candidates are required to pay the application and entrance test fees online. The IISER selection process varies from programme to programme. Find below the step-by-step IISER Tirupati admission process for BS-MS and PhD programmes:
Step 1: Application: Candidates must apply online on the official website of IISER Tirupati ( iisertirupati.ac.in/ )
Step 2: UG Selection round
- For BS MS admission, candidates having a valid KVPY fellowship commencing for the current academic session are granted admission to the programme.
- JEE Advanced channel: Candidates belonging to the General category securing a rank within 10,000 in the Common Rank List (CRL) of JEE Advanced are considered for admission. For OBC-NC/ SC/ ST/ PwD candidates, their category rank should lie within 10,000
- SCB channel: Those applying through the SCB channel need to pass Class 12 in the Science stream and must clear the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) with a valid score. All seven IISERs conduct the entrance exam jointly. However, the shortlisted candidates will be considered for admission to the programme only if they obtain the cut-off marks specified for their board. PhD Selection round
- Integrated PhD course: Candidates willing to seek admission to the Integrated PhD programme need to appear for the Joint Admission Test for MSc (JAM) with an EKT stream of respective specialisation. For an integrated PhD programme in Biology and Physics, the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) Physics or Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS) score is also considered, respectively
- PhD course: Candidates seeking admission to the PhD programme need to have a valid score in the specialisation-specific entrance exam along with a good academic record. The shortlisted candidates are called for a screening test and an interview round basis which the seats are allotted to the applicants
Step 3: IISER Counselling
Upon the completion of all selection rounds, candidates are required to participate in the counselling process(one to eight).
Step 4: Final Admission
The candidate can download the offer letter and pay the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) using the details provided therein.

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER Tirupati) accepts applications solely on the basis of entrance. For admissions, the institute takes into account the following factors:
JEE Advanced: Candidates must have taken the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced and received a qualifying score. For admissions, the institute takes JEE Advanced ranks into account.
IISER Aptitude Test (IAT): Another way for students to apply for admission to IISERs is through the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT), a centralized exam. For admissions, the institute takes IAT scores into account.

IISER Tirupati BS-MS Admission 2025
BS-MS programme is the flagship course of the institute which is offered for a duration of five years. The first two years of the programme consist of core courses in basic sciences, the third and fourth years are dedicated to specialisation chosen by a student and the fifth year includes a research project.
IISER Tirupati selects candidates for its BS-MS course through the SCB channel. In the SCB channel, candidates who have passed Class 12 need to appear for the IISER Aptitude Test. Those who clear JEE Advanced/ KVPY with a valid score/ rank are also eligible for direct admission to the course.

IISER Tirupati Scholarship 2025
Students are offered fellowships and scholarships at IISER Tirupati. Scholarships are provided to students belonging to economically weaker sections of society whereas fellowships are offered to meritorious students.
At present, IISER Tirupati offers two scholarships which are, KVPY scholarship and the INSPIRE scholarship wherein students are offered an amount of INR 5,000 per month.
Candidates are advised to use the National Scholarship Portal 2.0 for all the information regarding the scholarships on offer. IISER Tirupati also offers National Fellowships for ST students who wish to pursue PhD from IISER Tirupati.
