IIT Roorkee Selection Rounds & Counselling
After the conclusion of the application process, students are required to take the course-specific entrance exam followed by other selection rounds (if applicable). After which, counselling rounds are carried out for some of the courses for the seat allotment process. Check below entrance exams required:
- For BTech, the accepted exams are JEE Main and JEE Advanced.
- For MSc, the selection criteria is based on IIT JAM exam along with CCMN Counselling.

Admission Confirmation
Candidates selected after all the selection rounds can confirm their admission /seat by paying the required IIT Roorkee fee. Students have to report at IIT Roorkee for verification of documents. Students must bring along several documents including marksheets, passport-sized photo, entrance exam scorecard/ counselling letter, and fee receipt.
IIT Roorkee Fee Refund Criteria
IIT Roorkee offers fee refunds under specific conditions, primarily before formal registration or programme commencement. Check below fee refund criteria for MBA course at IIT Roorkee:
- Only those candidates who deposit the waitlisting security amount of INR 50,000 within the stipulated time shall be considered for preparation of the waitlist. After the deadline, no request will be entertained for any reason.
- In case a candidate rejects the admission offer or withdraws admission (before the document verification), an amount of INR 5,000 shall be deducted from the deposited amount as processing charges, while the remaining amount will be refunded to the candidate, as per institute rules, tentatively in the second week of August 2026.
- In case a student has completed the admission registration for the programme and left thereafter, only the refundable amount and food charges, as applicable, will be refunded tentatively at the end of the semester.
- In case admission is not offered, the full waitlisting security amount of INR 50000 will be refunded to the candidate as per institute rules, tentatively in the second week of August 2026.

IIT Roorkee follows the Government of India mandatory reservation percentages for its BTech seats. Check below seat reservation percentage for BTech at IIT Roorkee:
