To get admission to BDes at IIAD, students need to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria, i.e., to pass Class 12 with 50% aggregate in the streams in Science/ Commerce/ Arts from CBSE/ ISC/ State/ IB or any other equivalent Indian or International Higher Secondary Board. The eligible students can apply for the exam/admission on the IIAD Delhi official website. All the details should be filled out correctly in the application. Those who are willing to get admission to this course, must qualify for an entrance exam. The institute has an in-house entrance exam namely, IIAD Design Aptitude Test (IDAT), which is conducted by IIAD for the selection of candidates in its UG courses from the Designing stream. It is a mandatory step to qualify for the entrance exam with a valid score.

The Indian Institute of Art and Design IIAD Entrance Exam is a 2-hour 30 minutes written test where students are evaluated on their imaginative and creative expression, drawing and design skills, observation skills, as well as visual strengths and communication. The admission process for the Indian Institute of Art and Design entrance exam is such that after appearing for the written test students have to appear for a studio simulation (for Undergraduate students) or Personal Interview (for Postgraduate students) round.
