    On Highlights
Q:   What was the highest package offered at IIHM Kolkata for BHM?
    A:

The highest package offered at IIHM Kolkata for the Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM) programme was INR 25 LPA. Additionally, the average package for students ranged between INR 1.44 LPA and INR 2.40 LPA. The placements at IIHM Kolkata are notable, with a focus on providing students with opportunities in top international and domestic brands in the hospitality industry. Companies like EXCELSIOR Hotel, Downtown Crowne Plaza Dubai, Grand Excelisor, RIU Hotels & Resort, and others participate in the placement drives at IIHM Kolkata

Q:   Does IIHM Kolkata have good placements for BHM Hospital Management?
    A:

Indeed, the Bachelor of Hospital Management (BHM) programme at the International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) in Kolkata has a strong placement history.

IIHM Kolkata has a strong placement history for both specialisations; however, because of its wider scope and variety of employment options within hotel operations, the BHA in Hospital Management may have a somewhat better placement percentage.
In the previous 21 years, the USA, Canada, Australia, and the UK have installed over 5000 IIH-Mites.
Placements in the global hotel, hospitality, and airline industries are offered, including those at the Hyatt Group, Marriott, Taj Group, Le Meridien, InterContinental, Oberoi Group, ITC Hotels, and many others.
In 2022, the highest placement package was INR 2.52 LPA, while the average payout was INR 1.68 LPA.

Q:   What is the selection process for BHM and what is the minimum WBCHSE score required?
    A:

The selection process for the BHM programme at IIHM Kolkata typically involves multiple stages:

    1. Application:

    • Submit an online or offline application form along with the required documents and application fee.
    • Meet the minimum eligibility criteria (usually 50% aggregate marks in Class 12th or equivalent).

    2. IIHM Aptitude Test (IIHM-AT):

    • Take the IIHM-AT, a written entrance exam, designed to assess your aptitude for the hospitality industry. It covers topics like General English, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, and General Awareness.
    • Achieving a good score in the IIHM-AT significantly strengthens your application.

    3. Personal Interview:

    • Shortlisted candidates may be called for a personal interview to assess your communication skills, motivation, and personality fit for the hospitality industry.
    • Prepare well for the interview by researching IIHM and demonstrating your passion for the hospitality sector.

    4. Final Selection:

    • The admissions committee considers your Class 12th marks, IIHM-AT score, interview performance, and any other relevant factors to make the final selection decision.
    • Successful candidates receive an offer letter and can proceed with programme registration and fee payment.

    Minimum WBCHSE Score:

While IIHM mentions a minimum eligibility criterion of 50% aggregate marks in Class 12th or equivalent, the actual cut-off scores for WBCHSE can vary depending on several factors:

    • Competition: The number of applicants and overall quality of applications during a specific intake semester can influence the cut-off scores.
    • Program Specialization: Specific BHA specializations within the programme might have slightly higher cut-off scores due to their popularity or focus areas.
    • Intake Semester: Cut-off scores might differ between the January and August intake semesters.

Therefore, focusing solely on the minimum WBCHSE score isn't enough to guarantee admission.

Disappointing in many ways. The only good thing is the friends you make in the process.
Placements: I'm currently in the final year, and of course, around 80–85% of our batchmates have been given internships. But, when it comes to jobs, so far only about 30–35% of the batch has been placed. The average package for freshers right now is approximately Rs. 15,000–20,000 per month. JW Marriott and Hyatt are the top recruiting hotel brands. Mostly freshers join as associates.
Infrastructure: I’m visibly upset with the infrastructure, especially with the amount of fee they’re charging. The AC in classrooms is often broken, there are very few classrooms, and there’s no Wi-Fi facility. The library hardly has 100 books. Labs are okay but not top-notch. There is no canteen for students, no mess or hostel, and no playground or anything.
Faculty: Faculty members are decent. Some of them try their best to pass on knowledge. We give exams under MAKAUT University, but that change to SSU from the next batch. Exams aren’t hard, but they always publish exam routines just a few days before the semester which is very problematic.
Other: I chose this journey because I am passionate about the hotel and hospitality life. But, after the course, I feel like I am not meant for this. Although events and fests are superb, there are lots of artistic practices.

Best college in Kolkata for hotel management.
Placements: Here, 100% placement is given by the college, from many more opportunities like respective 5-stars and also from outside India placements. There are many opportunities to grow your career and life to a 100% hike, and exciting ones like cruises and deluxe properties.
Infrastructure: All classrooms are provided with air conditioning, and all labs are cleaned. All departments have comfort for each and every student. There is a very comfy and good environment in this college, and very cool faculty members and styling to teach all departments.
Faculty: If you are looking for good knowledge and placement about the hotel industry, this college is the best choice. This college makes each and every one industry-ready! And provides the best course and knowledge, and there are good faculty members and many more.
Other: Every year, a fest is organized for freshers newcomers, and the annual program. There is a food festival, puja festival, Holi fest, and vacations like Goa, Hyderabad, and Thailand.

    Our college has helpful teachers.
Placements: You get a few options like front-office, F&B service, housekeeping, production, and bakery. You can choose your interest and can give importance to that particular department. You have various stages in each department. The highest earning is in F&B service.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure has changed a lot. There are 2 buildings on our campus now. We don't have Wi-Fi service. There is a library, but you must pay for it. We cannot use the library as it is too small. It is used for back-office purposes. There is a hostel too. Canteen is not available. Students cannot leave the college premises.
Faculty: Teachers are very kind and helpful. They always lend a helping hand and never let you feel left out. They know how to make the college's hectic environment funny. The college makes you ready to face the training period, which is never going to be easy. They also make you familiar with vocals too.
Other: If you are ready to work for more than 12 hours, you can work in the hotel industry. It's very difficult and not everyone can do it. The college is fun. Events keep happening to make you feel fresh and create a happy mood.

    IndianIHM BHM FAQs 2025

Q:   How many students can do BHA at IIndianIHM?
    A:

The number of students who can pursue a BA at IndianIHM is not specifically known. Nevertheless, IndianIHM provides a Bachelor of Arts in Hospitality Management from the University of West London, UK. Admission to this programme is entirely entrance-based, with candidates chosen for admission across all IIHM campuses based on their performance in a common exam. Candidates' performance in the Group Discussion (GD) determines who gets picked in the end.

Q:   Which one is better for BHA, IndianIHM or NIPS Hotel Management, Kolkata?
    A:

Determining whether IndianIHM or NIPS Hotel Management, Kolkata is "better" for your BHA depends on your individual priorities and goals. Both institutes are recognised in the hospitality field, but they excel in different areas. Here's a breakdown to help you decide:

    Academics:

    • Curriculum: IIHM's curriculum might be slightly broader, offering diverse specializations like Food Production, Food & Beverage Service, Accommodation Operations, and Travel & Tourism Management. NIPS focuses more on core hotel management subjects with a strong emphasis on practical training.
    • Faculty: Both have experienced faculty with industry expertise. IIHM might have faculty with more international exposure and research experience, while NIPS faculty might have stronger connections with local hotels and businesses.
    • Teaching style: IIHM tends towards a more theoretical approach with classroom lectures and assignments. NIPS emphasizes practical training through workshops, simulations, and industry guest lectures.

    Placements:

    • Placement records: Both boast good placement records with graduates finding jobs in reputed hotels and hospitality chains. However, IIHM might have a slight edge due to its wider network of national and international industry partners.
    • Career guidance: Both offer career guidance services, but IIHM's placement team might be more proactive in job search assistance and industry networking opportunities.

    Other factors:

    • Fees: IIHM's fees tend to be higher than NIPS. Consider your budget and scholarship options.
    • Location: IIHM is located in the heart of Kolkata, while NIPS is situated in the suburbs. Choose based on your preference for accessibility and living arrangements.
    • Infrastructure: Both have modern facilities, but IIHM's campus might be more spacious and offer additional amenities like a swimming pool and gym.

For you, IIHM might be a better fit if:

    • You prefer a wider range of specializations within the hospitality field.
    • You value international exposure and a more theoretical learning approach.
    • You prioritize a larger alumni network and potentially stronger placements.
    • You don't mind paying higher fees.

NIPS might be a better choice if:

    • You focus on core hotel management and practical training.
    • You seek strong connections with local hotels and businesses for internships and jobs.
    • You prefer a more affordable option and a smaller, close-knit campus environment.
    • You prioritize industry experience and guest interaction over theoretical knowledge.
