The MTech programme of two-years (full-time) is offered by IIIT Pune under its two specialisations namely Computer Science & Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering. These programmes are established in such a way that they offer high technical expertise and experience in research. Students have an option to pick up their specialisation depending on their educational background and careers. The programme is theoretical and practical.

Students with a Bachelor degree in Engineering or Technology are eligible to apply to M.Tech at IIIT Pune. The requirement of admission under CCMT route is a valid GATE score. Non GATE candidates also can apply but then they have to pass the IIIT Pune internal written and interview examination. Scholars applying to the institute have to fulfill the academic and paper criteria.

Shortlisted PhD applicants of IIIT pune are supposed to carry their original photo identification card, the hard copy of the application they have submitted and the receipt of the processing fee. Besides, there are thesis/ dissertation/ publications, mark sheets, degree certificates (original and photocopy), and two passport size photograph. In case it is utilized, then candidates have to provide No Objection Certificate (NOC) of their employer as per Annexure-I.

In order to take admission in the PhD programme at IIIT Pune, the applicant should possess a post-graduate degree in a relevant field and should possess a valid GATE score. The students who have not studied in GATE can enter through the IIIT Pune written exam and interview. Candidates are also expected to be academically fit and provide all the required documents. Selection will be done on merit in general and research potential.

The students in IIIT Pune would have an access to state scholarship portal where they can apply in the fee reimbursement schemes. For example, students of Maharashtra can apply through MahaDBT, students of UP through scholarship.up.nic.in and so on. They should make sure that they are eligible and deliver involved documents. The purpose of such schemes is intended to lessen the cost incurred by the poor students.

I2IT Pune offers undergraduate courses to students. These courses are provided across the Engineering stream. At the UG level, the International Institute of Information Technology, Pune offers four-year full-time B.E. courses to students. B.E. is provided in three specialisations, namely Electronics & Telecommunication, Computer Engineering, and Information Technology. 

I2IT Pune is ranked 139th by Times 2024 for BTech. Admission to various courses is based on merit and entrance exam scores. The accepted entrance exams are MHT Main,  MHT CET, and others. Candidates applying through JEE Main must first register for the JEE Main exam. Then appear for the JEE Main exam.

The college is strict about the eligibility requirements for B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, with candidates needing to fulfill criteria such as passing Class 12 with Physics, Mathematics, and one additional subject, qualifying the JEE Main exam, and obtaining at least 75% marks in Class 12 (65% for SC/ST candidates) or being in the top 20 percentile of their respective board.
