The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Imphal has a 50% minimum cutoff point for undergraduate Diploma. Candidates who have completed their degree examination with at least 50% of the possible points are eligible to apply for NIELIT Imphal's UG Diploma courses. The Institute does not administer significant entrance exams for admission to its UG Diploma programmes; instead, admissions are made primarily based on merit and the results of previous degree or school board exams.

NIELIT Imphal offers undergraduate, diploma, certificate, and several other courses to students. These courses are provided across the Computer Application and various other streams. Aspirants need to pay the course fee after selection to confirm their seat in the institute. Besides, candidates also need to pay an application fee of INR 500 in the start to register for the course.

According to the NIELIT website, NIELIT Shimla has good infrastructure, including six large classrooms located outside of the city in the lower Jakhoo area. As a result, each institute has merits of its own, depending on the needs and preferences of the individual.
