A good place to learn nursing with good clinical exposure.

Placements: Tirath Ram Shah School of Nursing provides good clinical exposure through its hospital setup. As nursing students we get opportunities to learn and improve our practical skills during clinical postings. The main roles after GNM are Staff Nurse and Nursing Officer. Placement opportunities depend on vacancies and individual performance. We also get guidance from teachers regarding career and job opportunities.

Infrastructure: The school has a decent infrastructure with classrooms, nursing labs, library facilities and the required equipment for practical learning. The hospital provides good clinical exposure to students. Hostel facilities are satisfactory and the basic requirements are available. The mess food is average but manageable. Overall, the environment is suitable for nursing students and helps in both theoretical and practical learning but there is no Wi-Fi available.

Faculty: The teachers are generally helpful and supportive especially during practical and clinical posting times. Course provides a good balance of theory and practical learning. Curriculum is useful for building basic nursing knowledge and clinical skills. Exams are manageable if we attend classes regularly and study properly although some subjects can be difficult. Faculty and course are satisfactory.

Other: I chose GNM because I was interested in the healthcare field and wanted a course where I could learn both theory and practical skills. One of the best things about the course is the clinical exposure and the opportunity to learn through practical work. The course could be improved by providing better facilities, more extracurricular activities, and better connectivity. My experience as a student has been good and I have learned a lot during my last two years.

GNM

Candidate must have passed 10 + 2 examination with English and must have obtained mentioned marks at the qualifying examination and English individually for any recognized board. Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government. However Science is preferable. Candidates who have passed 10+2 with English having mentioned marks in vocational ANM course from the school recognized by Indian Nursing council OR 10+2 with English having same mentioned marks in Vocational Stream-Health care Science from a recognized CBSE board/Centre, are also Eligible. (Note: 5% is relaxed for SC/ST candidates.)
