Good teachers and clinical exposure. Needs more extracurricular and updated library resources.
Placements: Placements at SMVNC are decent, especially for nursing students. We are given proper clinical exposure during the course, which helps build practical skills and confidence. In the final year, students are given guidance on interviews and hospital placements, and some well-known hospitals do come for recruitment. However, not every student gets placed in college directly. We are encouraged to attend external job fairs and apply independently as well. Faculty and placement coordinators offer good support when students show interest. There are almost 100 students in B.Sc. nursing batch every year.
Infrastructure: We have clinics in the hospital every 2-3 months in every semester for our requirements. College has a clean and peaceful campus environment. Classrooms are spacious, well-ventilated, and equipped with projectors. Labs for nursing procedures and anatomy are well-maintained with the necessary equipment, although upgrading to more advanced tools would be beneficial. Library is helpful, but it could include more updated books and digital access. Hostel facilities are available and hygienic, but the food in the mess is average. Wi-Fi is limited to some areas, and more internet access would help with academic work.
Faculty: Faculty members at SMVNC are experienced and cooperative. Most of the teachers are well-qualified and explain the concepts clearly. They support students with seminars, clinical case discussions, and doubt clarification sessions. Practical training is given importance. Teachers are strict but encouraging. Some faculty members go the extra mile to help students, especially during university exams and clinical postings. The semester exams are quite difficult, and teachers will help you through them. The pass percentage is 50% in every subject.
Other: I chose B.Sc. nursing because I have always wanted to work in the healthcare field and help others. Nursing gives you the opportunity to care for patients, work in hospitals, and also have job security. I was also inspired by the respect nurses get in society. The B.Sc. nursing course is professional, with good career scope in India and abroad. There are certain events inside and outside the campus. We celebrate every health day, and student nurse association programs are there in which you can participate in certain events in overall colleges in Puducherry. Nursing campus is okay.

There is a good curriculum, good faculty, but some may be dissatisfied.
Placements: 60% of students get placed. The highest package is Rs. 30,000, and the lowest is Rs. 7,000. Apollo is the recruiting company, and 80% of students get placed in Apollo. A role is offered as a staff nurse, and we can get a job easily compared to other courses. But the only thing is that we have to tolerate everything. Patience is more crucial in this course, which I'm now studying.
Infrastructure: The facilities are okay, not that bad, but it would be good if they were changed. Wi-Fi is not for students. The library is not that good. Hostel food is just okay, others are good. We don't have a canteen of our own. We just buy from the MS canteen and the MIT canteen.
Faculty: The faculty members are very much supportive, but some are particular. Semester exams are of an okay level, not too difficult. At Pondicherry University, a C grade is a pass grade, and an O grade is outstanding, which is the highest grade of all. But it is very hard to get that grade because we also have to practice.
Other: I chose this course by compulsion, the best thing is to serve the public, ordinary people. It gives more knowledge about everything. A nurse is not the one who only does carnival or bedmaking. So, more content should be included. Overall, it's good.
