On Admissions

Q:   Can I join Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research Pune without SET?

A:

The Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) serves as the obligatory gateway for aspiring students seeking admission into undergraduate programs at Symbiosis University. This standardized examination assesses candidates across various disciplines and analyse their aptitude and capabilities. SET plays a crucial role in the university's admission process, ensuring a fair and competitive selection of students for their diverse undergraduate courses. It measures applicants' academic proficiency, logical reasoning, and overall growth, allowing the university to select the most deserving candidates. Thus, SET serves as a important tool in maintaining academic excellence and a high standard of education at Symbiosis University.

Q:   Does Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research Pune accept SET for BBA?

A:

The Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research in Pune considers SET scores for admissions to its BBA program. Eligibility requirements include completing the 12th grade or an equivalent course from a recognised educational institution. For general (open) category students, a minimum of 50% marks is required, while students from the SC and ST categories need to have at least 45% marks.

To secure admission, candidates must successfully go through a selection process, which includes:

1. Qualifying in the Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET).

2. Participating in a Personal Interview (PI).

3. Completing a Writing Ability Test (WAT) conducted by the institution.

Indian students will be granted admission based on a merit list derived from the results of this selection process. The merit list considers both the SET score and the performance in the PIWAT, with each contributing 50% to the overall evaluation.

Q:   What is the admission process of Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research Pune?

A:

To gain admission to undergraduate programs, prospective students are required to meet specific eligibility criteria. SICSR is the best university of my life.
Placements: The placement provided by our university is excellent. In our university, final-year students are eligible for campus placement, and our university has invited many big MNCs such as TCS, Amazon, Flipkart, and Reliance. These companies offer good placements, some up to 18 Lacs per annum.
Infrastructure: The hostel at our college is excellent, offering good facilities. The rooms in our hostel are well-designed, with attached bathrooms. Two students share each room, which is equipped with all the necessary facilities for comfortable living.
Faculty: The course curriculum at our college is impressive. I chose the MBA course for its potential impact on my career. The teaching faculty is highly qualified, with some holding Ph.D. degrees. The language of instruction is well-received by all students. Exams are conducted every semester, approximately every 5 to 6 months.

I love technology because it's the triumph of the human intellect.
Placements: We are eligible from the 5th trimester to apply for placements. We can also get offers by performing well in our summer internships and bagging pre-placement offers (PPO). Over 600 offers were made for 550 students. Examples of companies: Google, Amex, Samsung, Microsoft, Pepsi, IBM, Flipkart, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, etc. The average package is INR 26 LPA; the highest package is INR 70 LPA. 100% placements are offered.
Infrastructure: I stay at Symbiosis Vishwabhavan (Boys Hostel), which is at a different Symbiosis campus from my college. The approximate distance between the college and the hostel is 1.5 km. The infrastructure of the hostel is good, and it's a beautiful campus. The room provided is on a sharing basis: 3 in one room or 2 as per your choice (feels may vary). Hostel Fee: INR 150000 per year.
Faculty: I took the flagship MBA from NMIMS Mumbai as it was in sync with my previous work experience. It was my desire to upskill my learning from my time as a professional with theoretical business concepts. The faculty-to-student ratio is usually 1:30, with well-lit and big classrooms with audiovisual teaching available. Faculty members were industry professionals who had achieved accolades in their particular field of work. Also, the majority of them had PhDs and were very competent. The teaching method was completely case-based and dependent on the discussion in a class by students, in which the teacher nudges us towards an interesting viewpoint. Exams like quizzes could be once a week, and they required regular study. Midterms were three weeks after the start of the trimester, and there were final exams at the end of the trimester. Exams, as such, were sometimes case-based or theory-based. The difficulty was quite moderate. Class Size: 60 Course Fee: INR 507000 per year.

BBA in Information Technology - Batch of 2025

Good faculty and courses but really bad condition for infrastructure.
Placements: The Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research ensures 100% placement for students. The institute has lived up to its name for years and gives its graduates an average salary of at least 6 lacs. The topmost package offered in SICSR last year was 21 lacs. Many top-tier companies recruit students from SCSR, like Amazon, TCS, Cognizant, etc. Although SICSR claims to give 100% placements, it does not account for students backgrounds.
Infrastructure: SICSR is a single building; it has no infrastructure facilities whatsoever. I'm in BBA (IT) Sem 2. We have a canteen, library, and office, and classes are on 5 floors, which are divided amongst students of SIU and SICSR. The infrastructure stands too low for SICSR.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are very sweet and caring. The professors pay attention to the needs of students. We have visiting faculty members and non-visiting faculty members. I personally like this idea, as we get to learn from the faculty outside of the campus. There are some teachers who tend to get rude sometimes but I haven't faced an issue with mine yet.
Other: I chose this course because it was a perfect blend of IT and business. Our society is growing more towards IT, so this course might help me understand the best of both world's. As for events, we have a single building, so we don't get many events. I wish the infrastructure was a bit better, except that it's all good.

It has good placements but, the campus is not good.
Placements: Symbiosis is known for its placements. Recently, in the 2019-22 batch, 29 students from both BCA and BBA-IT were placed at Deloitte. The highest salary package for BCA was 21 LPA. Multiple MNCs arrive for on-campus placements, and there's a great opportunity to get a good start.
Infrastructure: They don't have their own boys' hostel. They allot male students on the basis of their grades to the hostel of the SSE campus, which is approximately 1 to 1.5 km away. The girls' hostel is beside the college, and the food is not good.
Faculty: Some teachers are good, kind, polite, and helpful. It's good to study with them. They have qualified appropriately for that. You can get guidance for specialisation in various fields from them personally, as most of them are PhDs, full of knowledge and experience. They provide specialisation in Bachelor's in 3 different fields, which will definitely boost your profile up a notch. It's not easy to cheat in exams, so you'll have to study ultimately and boost your own skills. No one studies at the college. It's more about placements and extra-curricular.
Other: Hoping to get an average campus is one of the biggest misconceptions you can have.

BBA in Information Technology - Batch of 2022

3Placements4Infrastructure4Faculty3Crowd & Campus Life3Value for Money
I am fairly satisfied with it.
Placements: The associate analyst role is offered by Deloitte, and the systems tech associate role is offered by DE Shaw. It also offers a business development associate role. Almost 100% of the students from our course secured an internship either through college or through personal means. The highest salary package offered is 21.5 LPA, and the average salary package offered is 5 LPA.
Infrastructure: The hostel facility is good. It has basic facilities with a common room and mess on-campus. The college campus is not in line with other symbiosis campuses. Labs are well-maintained on the campus. The college library is well-stocked and is available in an online format as well.
Faculty: Faculty members are highly skilled and knowledgeable in their respective fields. It has a high pass percentage. The course curriculum is relevant to modern market requirements. Students are taught a combination of business and information technology concepts, which give them an edge in the market.
Other: It provides a scholarship for international students and a merit-based scholarship every semester.
