  • Not sleeping enough on the night before the exam

This first mistake is easy to avoid. Make sure that you get enough sleep on the night before the exam so as to avoid chances of feeling dizzy during the exam. Also, by getting a full night’s sleep, your brain will be a lot more alert and bright at the time of the entrance test.

  • Not setting a plan for the exam

One of the most severe problems with any exam is that you have to deal with time pressure. So, you must lay out a proper plan so that you know before the exam what amount of time you have for each question. Also, make sure you stick with this plan so that you finish well.

  • Skipping the instructions section

Most of the exam takers tend to skip reading the instructions carefully thinking that this will save their time. This is one of the biggest mistakes one could make while taking an exam as it often results in confusions. So, read the instructions carefully before solving any question.

  • Not reading the questions carefully

Go through the question carefully before you begin to answer it. In fact, you must try to go through the entire question paper in the beginning and mark the questions which appear easier. This will help you solve questions according to their difficulty level. Solve all the easy questions in the beginning and then move to the questions that are trick and complicated.

  • Skipping over long questions

A majority of candidates skips over long questions thinking that such questions might be complicated. However, always keep in mind that some questions might be very long but are actually the easiest ones. Avoid skipping over questions just by looking at their length.

  • Calculating hurriedly

Calculate wisely and avoid making silly calculation mistakes. It is better if you do all the calculations by pen and paper.

  • Poor time management

Organise your time wisely. Do not get stuck on a single question. Learn to move on! If you face difficulty in solving a question, move on to the next question and come back to it with a fresh mind after attempting a couple of uncomplicated questions.

  • Choosing to mark all your answers on the Optical Response Sheet (ORS) at the last

If you choose to mark all your answers on the ORS at the far end of the entrance test, you might end up marking options incorrectly and might also find yourself gasping for time and air. So, mark your answers side by side.

  • Losing your nerve towards the end of the exam

Do not panic towards the end of the entrance exam as this will only result in further aggravation of stress levels and maximising silly mistakes.

No doubt, exam day is hard enough and brings along a lot of tension, as well as anxiety. Your mind is already overloaded with a large number of things to worry about. So, this is when you need to keep your mind clear and your head held high. Try to recognise and rectify as many silly mistakes like these as possible and calm down, you are going to do just fine!
