Clarify the concepts, focus on the scoring topics, practise previous year papers and stay confident to clear the competitive exams.

Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani conducts BITSAT entrance exam every year, which is a university-level exam for undergraduate courses.  BITSAT is a Computer-based Online test. Every year nearly around three lakh student appear for this exam to get a seat in their dream college.

Let’s first understand the pattern of the exam as it is one of the key components to crack it. The exam comprises four subjects namely Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning. The total number of questions is 150. For every correct answer three marks would be allotted and as there is a negative marking in this exam, so for every incorrect answer one mark would be deducted. There would be no marking for the un-attempted questions.

The difficulty level of this exam is moderate, so, speed and time play a vital role during the examination to score well. Thus, the candidate has to plan in such a way that they could attempt maximum questions with higher accuracy within the prescribed time limit. If we talk about cut-off, then in 2019, it was 240 out of 450 to get eligible for admissions.

Reasoning and English are the easiest modules of BITSAT exam. Hence, the students need to prepare these sections thoroughly to crack the exam. The candidates appearing for BITSAT could prepare for the conceptual predictable questions during preparation. Prepare the scoring sections first and during the exam, solve the questions that you are confident about and which require the least time to solve them.  Physics is considered as a difficult subject. The difference between JEE Main and BITSAT is that in JEE the solutions are usually lengthy and they involve two to three concepts whereas, in BITSAT, conceptual questions are asked. The rest of the syllabus of BITSAT is same as the syllabus of Class 11 and 12. After completing this, the students could practise advance level questions as well.

After completing the syllabus, allocate at least two to three months for a thorough revision of all the subjects and mock tests. Try to give online mock tests to get comfortable with the online environment and then analyse the weak areas and work on them consistently. Solving previous years question papers could also help in boosting the confidence and enhancing time management skills. Avoid taking any kind of stress and anxiety during the preparation as it would result in reducing the confidence level. Focus on the positives and strong areas to crack the exam.
