Prepare for every competitive exam like JEE Main with complete focus and diligence to crack the exam and get admission in the desired college.

The students often dream of pursuing engineering from one of the top NITs or IIITs or even a good GFTIS. National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts JEE Main twice a year. Paper-I is computer-based, however, Paper-II is partly computer-based and partly paper-based (the drawing of the BA test would be done by pen-and-paper). Every student must know the JEE Main preparation tips to crack the exam. Some of the useful preparatory tips for JEE Main are time management when planning and testing, relevant topics and chapters based on their weightage, practise sample paper and mock tests and so on. Another valuable resource for the preparation of JEE Main is the knowledge of the topic-wise analysis from last-year papers. In this article, we will discuss the preparation tips for JEE Main in detail.

Time Management – Time management is one of the essential to prepare for any competitive exam. The first thing that the candidate must do is prepare a plan, allot equal time to each topic, and adhere to it. Depending on the level of difficulty of the chapter or the subject, a candidate has to determine the number of days to complete the same. The candidates should finish the previous subject before moving on to the next subject.

Also, the candidate must know the syllabus completely. This would help in allotting time to a topic/ subject in an organised way.

The candidates preparing for the JEE Main and Class 12 board exams should follow the guidelines for JEE Main 2020 to get an idea of both the examinations. One aspect of the plan for JEE Main and Class 12 Board simultaneously is the need to analyse the Class 12 and JEE Main training programs. This would help them in understanding the most common topics of both the JEE Main and the Class 12 Examination.

The board examination of Class 12 is also important as some colleges and institutes give candidates admission based on Class 12 scores, while other colleges take the Class 12 and JEE key scores into account.

End the current subject and proceed – The students must first complete specific topics and revise them before proceeding to the other topic to get a good grip on a topic.

  • Developing concept clarity- One of the main JEE preparation guidelines is to understand concepts well. The candidates must note that they could solve a question quickly only when they have clarity of the concepts during the preparation.
  • Make notes or flashcards- Making short notes is important during the preparation of the JEE Main exam. The shot notes could include formulae and other important points/ topics, flash notes, etc. This would help in a quick revision of the main topics to score well in the exam.
  • Key sample documents and question papers from JEE – One of the main planning strategies for the JEE Main exam is to solve the review papers and questionnaires. Practising previous years question papers regularly would help the candidates in assessing their preparation and enhancing time and accuracy in the exam.

By resolving the JEE key sample papers, the applicants would be able to assess the difficulty level of questions. This would help in overcoming the challenges faced while solving a paper and avoid repeating these mistakes in the exam.

Mock testing- Taking the mock test at the time of the real review is one of the most important parts of the preparation process. Therefore, the candidates could take JEE Key Tests on the specific timings for the main exam, i.e., 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 14 a.m. to 5 p.m. This would make it easier for the candidates while taking the JEE Main exam. The NTA has developed Test Preparation Centres to help the candidates prepare in a better way.

Tips for Revision-  Thorough revision of each topic is essential to crack the exam with high scores. Hence, the student could revise the topic after completion to get a firm grip on the subject. Also, after completing the syllabus, go through the notes to revise each topic.

Eat healthy: The candidate must eat nutritious food, stay hydrated during the preparation. Candidates could also do some recreational activities like meditation, exercise, etc. to stay fit and healthy and calm during the exam.
