<p style="text-align: justify;">The HRD minister Mr. Kapil Sibal is entire time keen to make development efforts for higher education in India. He has introduced many new reforms and bills for education system in India. In this fiscal year also he has some major planning for education sector. According to a new proposal received by&nbsp; the HRD ministry from National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom) which says that 20 new Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) may be established very soon with the help and major investment through public private partnership (PPP) mode. The Center has approved the proposal and the talks are going on in this issue.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><br />Nasscom has prepared a full detailed report for the project. The new institute will be set with the help of Nasscom and PPP. According to <img style="border: 3px solid black; margin: 3px 4px; float: right;" src="https://images.shiksha.com/mediadata/images/1268644678phpeT4ayi.jpeg" alt="" width="150" height="110">the proposal the government is suppose to invest Rs. 14.9 crore and the share of the partnering companies would be not less than Rs. 15.1 and the initial investment for the project would be Rs. 30 crore. In its report the Nasscom has also proposed that the salary of the teachers would be based on their performance and output in the institute and the institute have the provision to differentiate the salary packages for the same academic qualification.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><br />As per the proposal, the IIITs will work like an autonomous degree awarding institutions. Each institute will have its own Board of Governors comprising 13 members, including one representative from the government.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><br />Nasscom Vice-President Rajdeep Sehrawat told, &ldquo;The government will give a loan of Rs 100 crore to each institute with five years moratorium period and repayable within ten years time.&rdquo;</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><br />According to the government&rsquo;s plan the 20 New IIITs will be established all over the country. In such states like Jammu and Kashmir where less industries are established the government will bear the maximum cost of the establishment. The campus will be spread over the 50 acre area and the land will be provided by the government. The campus will be fully integrated and will have all the facilities for education and experiments within the campus. The Nasscom has suggested that institutes to be set up in such cities which have all modern amenities.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><br />Each institute will specialise on specific area of Information Technology. Each IIIT will be a centre of excellence in that domain. Nasscom has suggested that the institutes be set up in cities having modern amenities.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><br />Nasscom Vice-President Rajdeep Sehrawat said, &ldquo;The IIITs will offer under-graduate, masters and PhD programmes. Each institute will have an intake capacity of about 1,000 students within a period of six to seven years of their functioning.&rdquo;</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><br />Besides this, 300 polytechnics will also be set up through PPP by the state governments and Union territories.
