Speaking during the Kaushal Dikshant Samaroh PM said that nearly 5000 new ITIs have been opened in the country in the last nine years.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that it is very important for industry, research and skill development institutions to be in tune with the times. Speaking during the Kaushal Dikshant Samaroh PM said that nearly 5000 new ITIs have been opened in the country in the last nine years.
PM Modi said that more than four lakh new ITI seats have been added in the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaking during the Kaushal Dikshant Samaroh said that today India is empowering its youth and making unprecedented improvements in the entire ecosystem. Modi said: “We can prepare our youth to take advantage of new opportunities through skilling and education. After almost four decades, we have come up with a new National Education Policy.”
PM said: “We have opened a large number of new medical colleges, and skill development institutes like IITs, IIMs or ITIs. Crores of youth have been given training under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana. On the other hand, we are also strengthening the traditional sectors that provide jobs. We are also promoting new sectors that promote employment and entrepreneurship.”
He said that the whole world is looking towards India for skilled youth. Recently, India's proposal regarding global skill mapping has been accepted at the G20 Summit. This will create better opportunities for youth in the times to come.
Taking a dig at previous governments, PM said that in previous governments, skill was not given that much attention. “Our government understood the importance of skills and created a separate ministry for it and gave a separate budget. The extent to which we are investing in the skills of our youth has never been done before. Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana has given a lot of strength to the young comrades at the ground level. Under this scheme, about 1.5 crore youth have been trained so far."
Now, around industrial clusters, new skill centres are also being established, this will enable the industry to share its requirements with skill development institutes and accordingly, by developing the necessary skill sets among the youth, they will be linked to employment.
