IPad Education Is Gaining Momentum In New Age Educational Institutions
We have to admit that India is a bit slow in adopting new technology - be it Internet, mobile phones, or
use of electronic media as educational tools. It has been quite some time since US schools have started integrating the use of iPad as a learning tool in their pedagogy. With the official launch of Apple iPad in India on January 28, 2011, the new-age Indian educational institutions are eagerly looking forward to prove that they are at least at par with international standards and try this new technology to make studies more interesting and engaging for their new-gen students.
Gadgets like computers and technologies like Internet have already proved themselves to be a strong medium for learning. Apple's iTunes-U went a step ahead to make thousands of applications available especially for university teachers and learners, which included software to post and track assignments, take notes, make projects, monitor progress and compose presentations. Now, i-Pad offers an additional advantage of being safer for students, minimizing the chances of being misused by naughty young minds.
Apart from the virus-free Apple circuit, iPad offers no support for CD drives or USB ports and a very restricted memory, making it impossible for students to watch movies or other offensive material and pass it around. Yet, it helps in developing multiple intelligence faculties of learners and allow them to use easy music apps or Amazon Kindle that can convert their i-Pad into an e-reader in which classics, textbooks, fiction, best-sellers, and compulsory reading material for class can be downloaded.
Teachers and students can stay connected 24X7 through e-mail, Youtube and Facebook using iPad and use applications like Pages, Keynote, and Number to make impressive documents, presentations and spreadsheets. New-age teachers are in demand to tackle high-tech teaching methods, such as iPad education, and effectively optimize the ways of learning of their new gen students.
