IIT is getting ready to train the engineers it had hired as faculty. Heres more...

IIT is starting a pilot project to train faculties in engineering colleges in India with the opportunity to earn a degree without joining the premier technical education institute or leaving his or her job.

Recently, numerous engineering colleges hired fresh engineers as faculty due to the shortage of faculty. However, these graduates are not trained to educate and lack the skill required to inspire students towards research resulting to poor quality of engineers.

In order to eliminate this problem, the government is set to introduce a new part-time Masters' degree in Engineering Education which will be conducted by the IITs. The main objective of the programme will be to focus on research aspects of engineering rather than just clearing the examination.
