JEE Advanced 2014 Result Analysis
JEE Advanced 2014 was conducted on May 25 and the results for the same were declared on June 19, 2014. Out of the 1,19,581 students who took the exam, 27,151 aspirants cleared the exam to compete for admissions to 9,784 seats at IITs and ISM.
Amongst these, 19,416 students featured in the common merit list(cml), while, 6,000 in Other Backward Classes Non Creamy Layer (OBC NCL), 4,400 in Scheduled Caste (SC), 1,250 in Scheduled Tribe (ST) merit lists and 243 candidates under the Persons with Disability (PwD) category.
Chitraanga Murdia(IIT Delhi zone) from Rajasthan emerged the topper with an AIR(All India Rank) 1 and a score of 334 out of 360. At the second place was Sai Chetan from Telangana with a score of 322/360 and AIR 2, while, the third place was bagged by Govind Lohati from MP, Indore who with an AIR 3 scored 332 in the exam. The first and third toppers are from Allen Coaching institute, Kota.
This year, only 3,009(11%) girls qualified the exam and five girls made it to the list of top 100 rankers (two girls in Top 50). Out of these, Aditi from IIT Roorkee zone emerged as the topper with an All India Rank of 7. She completed her boards from Swami Sant Dass Public School in Jalandhar and scored 95.4% in her senior secondary examination.
Bagging the AIR 21 rank, Srajan Garg was the Delhi topper in JEE Advanced 2014.
Nearly 55% of students(14,950), who qualified, were from the CBSE board. This was followed by 17% (4,745) from the Andhra Pradesh board, 7% (1,818) from the Maharashtra board (7%) and 6% (1,550) from the Rajasthan board. Only 931 students managed to clear the exam from the ICSE board.
Compared to 2013, this year 3,500 more students qualified for JEE Advanced and the increase was witnessed across all categories.
