  • Reach the examination centre atleast 15 minutes early
  • Keep yourself calm and cool
  • Take a few deep breaths on your seat in the examination hall to ward-off nervousness if any.
  • Read and follow the instructions given in the question papers very carefully.
  • Each of the two three-hour papers has equal number of questions in three subjects Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics, hence ideally speaking devote one hour each to the three subjects. Don’t spend more than 45 minutes on any of the subjects in first attempt i.e. devote maximum 45 minutes each on the three subjects in first go. After careful reading of paper at the start, prioritise and after selecting first subject, start answering with question you seem to know the best and move progressively to answer next best and so on leaving the difficult one(s) for next attempt (after completion of all three subjects). After 45 minutes, start cracking second subject in manner as above for first subject and then after another 45 minutes move to the third subject. Come back to the three subjects in last 45 minutes to crack left over questions conceptually with reasoned out & logical guess where required and for overall revision.
  • Do not attempt black box type questions (carrying negative marks) you don’t have any idea of, however you must attempt questions carrying no negative marks even at the cost of wild guess, since you don’t lose any marks for wrong answer but correctly answered, such questions can get you additional marks.
  • Do not be nervous if you find some segment/section tough since it is the relative performance which will count. Hence put in your best.
  • Do not discuss Paper 1 in the break before start of second paper.
  • You will find various types of questions in the papers: Multiple Choice Single Correct, Multiple Choice Multicorrect, Matrix List Type, Passage based Multiple Choice Single Correct Questions & Numerical based Questions etc. On an average 2 minutes are required to solve a question, hence move to next question without making it as prestige issue/hurting of your ego if you assess after initial working that solution may elude you even beyond this average time. You may decide to skip even after half to one minute & go to next question. This way you will be able to do full justice to all the three subjects in a balanced manner.
