JEE Advanced 2015 Topper Janak Agarwal shares his success mantra
JEE Advanced 2015 topper: A resident of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, Janak Agarwal secured an All India Rank 2 in JEE Advanced 2015 by securing 453 out of 504. JEE Advanced 2015 results were declared on June 17, 2015.
Janak completed his XII boards from ILVA Higher secondary school and is all set to join his dream institute – IIT Bombay to pursue Computer Science Engineering. A movie buff, Janak loves swimming and playing Table Tennis.
According to him, he was quite confident of topping the exam with a good rank. In a candid chat with shiksha.com, Janak Agarwal, JEE Advanced topper(AIR 2) talks about his preparation strategies and also shares tips for future JEE Advanced aspirants.
Q. Congrats on your achievement. So, how do you feel being the AIR 2 topper of JEE Advanced 2015?
A. I feel great. I just cannot express my happiness in words.
Q. Did you expect to be one of the toppers in JEE Advanced 2015?
A. Yes. I was expecting to be one of the toppers of the exam as my exam went really well.
Q. What was your overall score?
A. My overall score of 453 out of 504. Though I do not know my subject wise break yet. I couldn’t check my results properly as I am keeping busy with the Olympiads.
Q. How long have you been preparing? And what was your study plan like for JEE Advanced 2015?
A. I have been preparing for the exam for the last two years. And I took coaching classes in Indore. However, I used to spend 6-8 hours daily on self-study. This was a boon for me.
Q. What was your score in JEE Main 2015? Have you taken any other exam? What was XII Boards marks?
A. My score in JEE Main 2015 was 315/360. Besides JEE Main, I appeared for KVPY and BITSAT. In BITSAT, I secured 395 out of 450. In Boards, I got 91 percent.
Q. Which IIT are you aiming at and which stream do you wish to pursue?
A. I aim to pursue Computer Science from IIT Bombay.
Q. Any tips for aspirants who would be taking the exam next year?
A. Yes. I would like say that anyone who is preparing for these kind of exams shouldn’t take stress. They should enjoy and devote full attention to their studies. They should learn to handle pressure and how to manage time. These two are very important.
Q. Tell us about your family background?
A. My father is a businessman and my mother is a housewife. I have an elder sister. She is currently pursuing her CA Final.
Q. What are your views on the new Joint Counselling System?
A. It is a good system and has its own pros and cons. Hopefully, it will lead to transparency and smooth admissions to institutes. However, it has its own pros and cons.
