JEE Main 2014: Offline exam analysis

JEE Main 2014 has begun today. Students who appeared for the exam on Day 1 felt the questions in Chemistry were the easiest. However, Maths and Physics shared the same level of difficulty. Overall, compared to JEE (Main) 2013, this year, Paper 1 was relatively easy. Expected cut offs for the NITs may touch 230.

Here's a detailed analysis of the paper.

Paper – I: This was a three hour paper comprising of three sections: Part I - Physics, Part II - Chemistry & Part III- Mathematics. There were 30 questions in each of these three subjects. The questions were of objective type- multiple choice questions with single correct answer. Each question was allotted 4(four) marks for each correct response and 1/4th marks will be deducted for each incorrect response. However no marks would be deducted if no response is indicated for an item.

Paper – II :  This three hour paper consisted of  Part I - Mathematics, Part II -Aptitude & Part III-Drawing . The Mathematics  had 30 objective type multiple choice questions with single correct option and ¼th marks negative marking. In this part, the syllabus for Mathematics was common topics from XI/XII CBSE/State board. The Aptitude section had 50 objective - multiple choice questions with four options and ¼th negative marking. The Drawing section had 2 questions.

With 120 score, you can expect a rank between 50001 – 75000. (This is as per this years JEE Main paper analysis and last years cut offs) For more, you can refer to the below links https://ask.shiksha.com/know-top-colleges-accepting-jee-main-2014-scores-dscns-2874003-all-askHome-all-all-20-20 htt
