Cracking JEE Main is a dream of lakhs of aspiring engineers. If you are one of those budding engineers then JEE Main is the first milestone that you need to cross to get closer to your dream. Due to the rising competition, getting through esteemed exams like the JEE has become quite challenging. Nonetheless, it is not an unachievable task. A well panned strategy in the right direction is all what you need to come out with flying colors.

JEE Main generally tests analytical, logical and reasoning skills of examinees. Hence those with clear basics can ace this exam quite easily. Every student has got his own way of studying. By now, every JEE aspirant must be exhibiting the best possible IITJEE study material and IIT JEE books which cover the entire IIT syllabus with sufficient explanation. So, now that JEE is just almost knocking the door, the aspirants should gear up for revision. The revision plan is one of the most important factors that can make or break your dream. At this crucial juncture, the strategy that you adopt for revision can actually play wonders in improving your rank in JEE.

Let’s have a glance at what all must be included in the revision plan and how exactly should one plan out his revision:

• Preparation or Revision: The IIT JEE syllabus is so vast that it is not very easy to cover the entire syllabus. And if you are also caught in a situation where you need to make a choice between syllabus and revision, then without any doubt go for revision. Revision helps in retaining more facts and further brushes the skills.   
• Identify the important topics: You cannot imagine getting through elite exams like the JEE by studying selectively. However, you must identify the areas which fetch maximum number of questions so as to focus more on those areas. So, begin with spotting the important topics under each of the three heads:

1. 1.       For Physics: Kinematics and Dynamics, Theory of Fields (Electromagnetism), Wave Sound, Optics etc.
2. 2.       For Chemistry: Physical Chemistry is the most gaining topic besides Inorganic Chemistry
3. 3.       For Mathematics: Calculus, Determinants, Permutation and Combination, Sequences, Coordinate Geometry and Vectors.

• Conscientious Planning: Chalk out your plan carefully keeping all the factors in mind. Decide the topics you intend to cover in a day and then stick to it. If you have say 30 days in hand, make out your revision plan of 25 days covering all the topics. These extra 5 days will prove fruitful in case you are not able to adhere to your schedule.    
• Know the basics: The JEE Main does not test your memorization capability or retention power. Cramming might spoil the game. In fact, sound basics can help you in winning the race. So, just work on your basics and try to relate the concepts to real life experiences. This will also help in improving your application skills.
• Use Flashcards/ Notes: Revision does not mean going through the books. Just refer your flashcards or the revision notes prepared by you during your preparation. Hence, this is the time of recalling everything that you have already absorbed.
• Practice as much as you can: Try solving maximum number of questions and do not use calculators for calculations. But at the final stage it would be better to go for calculators as it’ll save your time. This will not only improve your speed but also increase your accuracy of attempting questions.  
• Increase your study hours: It’s high time that you focus only on your goal i.e. cracking JEE Main. There is no shortcut to success. And hence work hard by increasing your study hours. But, make sure that it yields positive results. If you start working beyond your capacity, it might have a negative impact because body too has its saturation limit.
• Mock Tests: Solving numerous IIT JEE Main sample papers is a must. This helps you in knowing what exactly is expected from you. Attempt various previous year papers to know the trend of questions asked in the exam. This also avoids any kind of panic situations on the D-day and infuses confidence.
• Practice solving problems with time limits: Speed is the most vital factor that can either make or destroy your game. Even the brightest student might fail in JEE if he does not have the required speed. The sample papers should be practices within prescribed time limits.
• Time management: Meticulous planning and proper time management are crucial. If you feel fresh in the morning hours then revise the toughest subject in that slot. Mathematics may be practiced in the afternoon. So, try to utilize your time extensively.
• Take breaks: Not wasting your time does not mean that you will study for 24 hours. Plan frequent breaks, go for morning walk, talk to your friends and be relaxed. Anxiety will only spoil your performance. These breaks refresh your mind and increase your retention power.

Determination and positive attitude are a must. Be positive and work your level best. Do not think about results. Work meticulously and you will surely achieve your cherished goal!
