The number of questions in the paper was 90 (30 Questions each in Physics, Chemistry and Maths) and total marks was 360 with 1/4th negative mark for each wrong answer.

Overall Analysis of Question Paper:

  • Chemistry and Maths paper were average.
  • Physics paper was tedious as well as lengthy.
  • If a student had covered complete syllabus properly then he/she might secure around 70% score easily.
  • This year’s paper can be said a little challenging if compared to last year JEE Main exam

Physics

  • It was a lengthy paper if compared to last year’s paper.
  • This year, some questions from “Heat & Thermodynamics” portion were difficult.
  • Overall physics paper can be said a difficult paper.

Chemistry

  • It was an average paper.
  • Portion from Physical Chemistry was lengthy and had some page filling calculations.
  • But a student can score 60% to 70% marks if he had read syllabus completely.

Mathematics

  • This year’s Maths paper is an average paper but if we talk about portion wise, Algebra was easy if compared to last year but Calculus was difficult.
  • There were 3 questions from the syllabus (Mathematical Reasoning, Height & Distance & Statistics) which is not in JEE Advanced syllabus, so a student who had prepared JEE Advanced syllabus only might lose his/her precious 12 marks.
  • SET A Q. No 86 Conceptual mistake. Examiner has assumed that one particular bag will have exactly 3 balls. This Question is expected to be bonus.
  • SET A Q. No 77 conceptually wrong question. This question expected to be bonus (at X=1, we cannot divide Differential Equation by log x).
