JEE Main 2016 Prep: Changes to make in the last 4 months

The last 6 to 4 months before JEE Main 2016 must be wisely used towards problem solving with understanding of concept involved, improving the time needed to solve a given problem, identifying the weaknesses and correcting them.
These few months before JEE Main 2016 should generally be utilized to consolidate one’s preparation by focusing on problem solving and overcoming the weaker areas in preparation. If you are a serious aspirant and have been preparing for some time and covered most part of the JEE Main syllabi then the following tips will be of help to you.
However, these are the following points one should keep in mind while you prepare for the exam:
- Remain focused and maintain a positive attitude while studying.
- Develop speed by solving JEE level problems with time management.
- Refer to mock-test series to build a winning exam temperament. Sample papers give a fair idea about the pattern of questions and help one improve time management.
- Focus on your weak areas and improve your concepts.
- Practice of JEE level questions is necessary as it improves your reasoning and analytical ability. Solving previous Years’ JEE papers will surely give a fair idea of the kind of questions that will be asked and also familiarise you with the pattern of the paper. However, one must be careful to read the instructions when attempting the actual exam to ensure there is no change in pattern or marking scheme.
- Remember it is the quality of time spent and not the quantity alone. Hence, take short breaks of five to ten minutes after every one or two hours of serious study. Relax completely when you take a break.
- Practice meditation to develop inner calm, poise, confidence and power of concentration. These matter a lot and will help you on the day of examination.
- Don’t overstress yourself. Five to six hours of sleep every night is a must, especially three-four days before for physical and mental fitness. Short naps may help to regain freshness, but avoid over-sleeping during the day.

- Speed and accuracy is an important aspect, which comes from extensive practice of similar questions.
- Always exercise time pressure while solving JEE (Main) papers. In Maths use short methods for calculations, skip irrelevant steps to save time.
- The most important thing is clarity of concepts & regular practice in problem solving.
- JEE Main is not difficult, but tricky. However, its questions do have a need of being tackled with different tactics and perspectives.
- Focus on solving the problems on your own, while preparing for the exam. Start with conventional methods of problems solving but improvise constantly and build your own shortcuts and ways for problem solving.
- Both speed and strike rate matter. You need to be quick and accurate to achieve high scores. High speed with less accuracy can actually ruin your results.
- Never use calculator while preparing for the JEE (Main). Being adept in mental calculations can actually increase your speed to a great extent.
- Select your questions wisely. If you solve easy and average questions correctly, you can easily get through. You may attempt difficult ones to make merit.
- Gather and implement tips, gain confidence, be positive, and you will ace JEE (Main).
