Karnataka Examination Authority will open e-doors to render CET transparent

<p style="text-align: justify;">The Common Entrance Test (CET) counselling is all set to go completely online from this year onwards as the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) is considering making OMR sheets available online for candidates from the scanning stage itself.A proposal in this regard has been sent to higher education minister Aravind Limbavali, said officials in the department. &ldquo;We are waiting for his nod to go online completely in this year&rsquo;s CET. Once we get the official communication from his office we will announce it,&rdquo; said the officials.<br /><img style="border: 3px solid black; margin: 3px 4px; float: left;" src="https://images.shiksha.com/mediadata/images/1263538294php7FLZqS.jpeg" alt="" width="126" height="115"><br /><br />&ldquo;This initiative will lend more transparency to the entire CET process. We will meet the minister in a couple of days to discuss the matter,&rdquo; saidSP Kulkarni, administrative officer, KEA. At present, the candidates can see their OMR sheets only after the evaluation. But from CET 2010 onwards they can witness even the scanning process of the OMR sheets. &ldquo;This will help reduce the chances of malpractice before the scanning process. We do not want the students to entertain any doubt on the conduct of the CET. If the students can see their OMR sheets while they are scanned, their doubts will vanish,&rdquo; saidKulkarni.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><br />The KEA has decided seek the help of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and National Informatics Centre(NIC). &ldquo;We will get the support of the BSNL and the NIC to implement the project. The computer room, where we scan the OMR sheets, will have four cameras to make it possible for the students to watch the process,&rdquo; he added.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><br />There is also a proposal to launch a website of KEA. The website will provide all information about professional courses and the colleges offering them. The new website will have provisions for professional colleges to place advertisements.
