Key Tips to Score High in JEE Main Exam

Every student wants to study in their dream college or take admission in the best colleges such as IITs and NIT. The path of taking admission is not an easy one. Firstly, the students have to qualify the JEE Main Exam with excellent rank and then they have to perform well in the JEE Advanced Exam to secure a place in the best colleges. To score high in the JEE Main Exam is important and to achieve that some tips and tricks that the students should follow.
Important tips to score high in JEE Main
- Correct Study Material (Books/Notes): - The first and the foremost tip to score high in the exam is to have a clear understanding of the study material. This includes the books or notes that one should refer to. There is a lot of study material available on the internet, and the truth is all the study material is not beneficial for the students. Therefore, the student must decide which notes or books they should refer to for their preparation. In my opinion, if one has a deep understanding of their NCERT books (Class 11 and 12) then they have maximum chances to score high in the exam. Also, if one wants to practise more, then they could refer to Pradeep book.
- Examination Structure: The exam structure of JEE Main includes the number of questions, marking scheme, etc. Hence, the students should know the exam pattern to devise a plan. There are 90 questions in the exam which is divided equally into three parts (Physics, Chemistry, and Maths). Every question is of four marks and there is a negative marking of one mark for every incorrect answer. In the exam structure, one thing that every student should keep in mind is the negative marking while attempting the questions. In many instances, the students aim at answering every question due to negative marking they end up losing marks. So to avoid this situation, the students should attempt only those questions Which are they confident about.
- Focus points (Highest Scoring Topics /Topic-wise Weightage and Preparation): - To score high in the exam, every student should know the scoring options available. Topic-wise weightage given in books, so students could refer to their textbooks while preparing for the examination. In my opinion, Maths and Chemistry are the core scoring subjects. In Maths, the important topics are Differentiation, Integration, Sequence and Series, Probability, Sets and Relations, etc.). In Chemistry the important topics are Organic and Inorganic Chemistry. In Physics the important topics are Newton’s Law of Motion, Kinematics, Work, Power, and Energy, Gravitation, Photoelectric Effect, etc.).
- Revision Approach/Study Plan: - As far as revision approach or study plan is concerned, it varies from one student to the other as every individual has a different mindset towards preparation. The revision should be done regularly and equal time should be devoted to getting better results.
- Self-evaluation (Mock Papers/Sample Papers): Last but not the least every student should evaluate their performance during the preparation. In my opinion, every student should solve at least five sample papers within the prescribed time, identify their weak areas, and work on them. This would help in managing time and enhancing accuracy, which would result in scoring well in the exam.
