Morals get 5% share in Board exam subjects
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board exams will now carry 5% marks for value education integrated in every core subject paper of Class X and XII.
As a result of this decision by CBSE, students will now answer questions related to morals and values also while writing their Maths, Science and other papers. Value education will not be a separate subject.
According to a member of the CBSE governing board, CBSE will finalize everything in a month's time.
The initiative has attracted mixed reactions from students and teachers. Some suggest that instead of adopting a theoretical approach to value education, a practical orientation by way of taking students to old age homes or rural areas would be more effective.
