Manipal University Online Entrance Test (MU-OET) is conducted by Manipal University for admissions to various programmes. The exam patter and syllabus of this exam is a bit different from the recently conducted JEE Main 2015. If worked on these differences, one can easily nail down the exam.
To help you through the same, shiksha.com has tried collecting some information that can benefit an aspirant in making a better exam strategy. We tried to reach to the last year aspirants of MU-OET and found the weak points of the exam which can be worked out and turned into strengths.
So here’s a list of some tips that you need to remember on the day of the exam:
1. English section – The most scoring one
On talking to aspirants who appeared last year for MU-OET, Shiksha.com found that the English portion of the exam is the easiest and the most scoring. If studied strategically, you can boost your overall score through this section.
The section can award you 30 marks with a little intelligent hard work. And for this, you must read a few good books, learn meanings & synonyms of a few popular words can work wonders. As the time is limited, reading books is little difficult atleast start learning new words to add to your vocabulary bank. The questions in this section are mostly fill ups, therefore, work on your grammar as well.
2. Maintain your speed
MU-OET is meant to be a speed test. You must have a good speed to score well in the exam. A last year aspirant told Shiksha.com that a maximum of 45 seconds should be devoted to each question. If maintained speed and accuracy, chances are you can crack the exam. But if you loose with time, then winning the overall exam shall become little difficult. Therefore, keep an eye on watch.
3. Do not stick to a question
As mentioned above that the aped plays an important part in the exam. It is advisable to students that do not stick to a question. If you are not able to find a correct answer for the question in the decided time frame, leave the question and move on to the next. Spending more time on a question might spoil your overall exam strategy.
4. Do not stock complicated questions for the last
The best way to answer the question is to attempt them in the given order. Just keep on answering the question one-by-one. Do not stock tricky and complicated questions for the last. Try to maintain a balance between easy and difficult questions. Attempting all difficult questions at first or last might take you to trouble. Things might become little complicated and messy.
5. Answer intelligently
If you are not able to find an appropriate answer for a question then guessing blindly might not help. It’s preferable to answer intelligently rather than just guessing blindly. Give a thought to the question and only then answer or guess. Avoid wild guessing of the answers.
6. Keep the guessing option for the last
If you are left with an imperfect balance between time and the number of questions, then the last option left is guess. In last 5-7 minutes if you have a number of questions yet to be answered, then it’s better to guess than leaving the answers blank. But again, try not to guess blindly. Read the question and only then answer.
