Faridabad Boy Is Top Ranker In IIT-JEE
Nitin Jain from Faridabad topped the Joint Entrance Exam held for admission to IIT. In all, 3,84,977 students took the test and a total of 10,035 students, including 1,048 girls, qualified for the prestigious IITs. The students, who qualified, will get admission into 15 IITs, IT-BHU and ISM Dhanbad, which will offer 8,295 seats. The number of seats has increased this year as last year these institutes had offered 6,332 seats. The number grew because of two new IITs coming up in Mandi in Himachal Pradesh and another in Indore in Madhya Pradesh.

HSBC Scholarships To Study In Top UK Univs
The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Ltd, India has announced scholarship programme for aspiring students looking to study in the UK. Under this programme, two selected students will receive £25,000 (Rs20 lakh) per year to pursue any graduate and post graduate programme at Oxford University, Cambridge University or University of London. The basic criteria for awarding the scholarship will be previous academic record and future potential of the student, leadership qualities and the students will be required to write a 500 word statement-of-purpose that explains future goals and how studying in UK will help him/ her.

IGNOU Launches BA Programme For Hearing Impaired
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN), UK have jointly started a three-year BA (Hons) programme in Applied Sign Language Studies for hearing-impaired students. The course will commence from July this year. Taught in sign language, the entire curriculum will be instructed in English. The programme will be conducted at the IGNOU's New Delhi centre where curriculum and pedagogy will be administered and monitored by IGNOU and UCLAN. The course structure includes English reading skills, IT and numeracy, signing skills, text composition skills and personal development planning. The additional one-year foundation programme associated with the BA programme focuses on intensive English literacy skills as well as other skills required for higher education.
