OJEE 2014: Quotas, categories & reservations

Conducted by the JEE Cell at Khordha district in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha joint entrance examination 2014 (OJEE-2014) was conducted on May 11, 2014.

Candidates can gain admission into first year degree courses in homeopathy, ayurveda and pharmacy along with dual degree programmes such as masters degree in applied management (MAM) and masters degree in computer applications (MCA) through OJEE 2014. It is also the means through which candidates can gain lateral admission into the second year for courses such as engineering, technology, pharmacy, architecture and MCA. Aspirants can also secure seats in post graduate programmes like MCA, MBA, PGDM, PGCM, PGDM (executive), M.Tech, M.Pharma and M.Arch through this state CET.

OJEE 2014: Categories and quotas

Candidates can apply for admissions in OJEE 2014 under the following categories and quotas:

Odisha State Category

For admissions to colleges under Odisha State Category (S-Category) candidates have to fulfill the below mentioned criteria:

  • Should have passed/appeared for their 10+2 examination from any of the recognised institution in Odisha for bachelor’s degree.
  • Parents of the candidate must be natives of Odisha. This criteria needs to be fulfilled if the candidates has not cleared his 10+2 from an institute located in Odisha.
  • Sons/daughters/spouse of employees of Government of Odisha /Govt. of India/Govt. of Odisha Undertakings/Govt. of India undertakings, serving in the state of Odisha
  • Children/ wards of All India Civil Service Officers serving in the state at par with the natives of Odisha except the reservations being extended to ST, SC and SEBC categories so far as admission to professional /technical institutions in the state is concerned.

Scheduled Caste (SC)

A total of 8% seats are reserved in all colleges for candidates who belong to the SC category by birth. Here, the candidate needs to be an SC by birth and candidates who fall under this category by marriage or adoption are not eligible to avail this reservation.

Scheduled Tribes (ST)

A total of 12% reserved in all colleges for candidates who belong to the ST category by birth. Here, the candidate needs to be an ST by birth and candidates who fall under this category by marriage or adoption are not eligible to avail this reservation.

Green card holders

Candidates whose parents hold a green card can avail the 5% seats reserved for them. This reservation can only be availed by candidates when they are applying for admissions into programmes such as B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Pharm, MCA, MCA-Dual Degree, MBA, PGDM, PGCM, PGDM (Executive) and MAM. However, this quota cannot be availed for admissions into M.Tech, M.Pharm and M.Arch programmes.

Physically Challenged

A reservation of up to 3% seats has been done in OJEE 2014 for physically challenged candidates who seek admission in B.Tech, B. Arch, MBA, MCA, PGDM, PGCM, PGDM(Exe), B. Pharm, MAM and MCA-dual degree. The candidates with 40% disabilities in consonance with section-39 of the Persons with Disabilities (Equal opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full participation) Act, 1995 are eligible to apply under this quota.

Ex-servicemen

Around 3% seats are reserved for children/wards of ex-servicemen. However, the ex-servicemen need to be natives of Odisha.

Women

In OJEE 2014, a total of 30% seats in all categories are reserved for women candidates. However, these women candidates should not have used any other quota such as outside state, non-resident Indians, tuition fee waiver and Oriya language speaking category.

Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme

Up to 5% seats are reserved under the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme [TFW]. Sons and daughters of parents whose annual income is less than Rs. 4.50 lakhs from all sources are eligible to apply for admissions under this scheme.

Oriya Language category

A total of 3% seats are reserved in Government engineering colleges for Oriya speaking people residing outside the State of Odisha. However, this reservation is not applicable to private engineering colleges.

Non-Resident Indians

NRI means sons and daughters of an Indian citizen who ordinarily reside outside India and hold an Indian passport. For NRI the number of seats will be provided following the provisions of OPEI (RA&FF) Act 2007 and norms of AICTE/UGC in this regards.
