SRMEEE 2014: Mistakes to avoid on the exam day

Sri Ramaswamy Memorial Engineering Entrance Examination 2014 (SRMEEE 2014) is just round the corner and we know the pressure is definitely building up on you. But our word of advice here is that believe in yourself and do not let this pressure bee bite you because no matter how many hours you spend studying in the last two years, at the end of the day it is only how you think and perform on the D-day, in those two and half hours, that actually matter.

To help you avoid some common mistakes made by students on the exam day, Shiksha.com has compiled a list of things you should remember while sitting for SRMEEE 2014.

Carry all necessary documents: Make certain that you carry your SRMEEE 2014 hall ticket and photo ID card to the examination centre. You also need to assure that you reach the examination centre 30 minutes before the start time of your exam. Otherwise, there is a likely chance that you will rush up in the verification and other formalities which may make you panicky right before sitting for the exam. Also, if you reach the exam centre 30 minutes after the exam commences, you will not be allowed to sit for the exam. So, to undo any such happening reach your exam centre well before time.

Appear for the exam:

Pen-pencil test: Do carry your HB pencil, eraser and pen with you for the examination. Do not shade multiple (answer) options given for a question because in such a condition the answer will be considered as unanswered. Ensure that you colour the complete coding area of the correct answer and do not spill the marking outside the circle. Also, before handing over your OMR sheet ensure that all details on the coding sheet are correct and you as well as your invigilator have signed the sheet.

Pay attention to instructions: When you are given the SRMEEE 2014 exam paper ensure that you read all the instructions carefully. Most students jump to reading and answering the questions almost immediately, however, we advise that invest a few minutes in going through the list of instructions because not doing so can lead to missing out on some important task which can harm your performance later.

Stay calm: Always believe in yourself and attempt questions as per your better judgement. If you feel you are better at solving questions from certain sections or topics then attempt them first. Doing so will boost your confidence and help you score better. Also, if you get stuck in some questions do not panic because your ultimate aim should be to get more marks and avoid negative marking.

Manage time well: Read your exam paper thoroughly and then start attempting questions which you are sure to solve correctly. Here, fix a time band to solve each section and try to stick to it. However, this does not mean that you need to rush through your calculations, take your time and try to solve the questions before you in a given time duration.

Entrance exams mostly try to test how good your subject knowledge is along with finding out how you deal with pressure situations. So, if you are able to ace these two aspects be assured you will be able to crack your exam.

Keep these common mistakes in mind and try to attempt your exam paper with an open, calm and sharp eye as well as mind.
