of the organisations during interviewing procedure. To develop those skills, one must be determined and should have a handful of knowledge about the topic being discussed, and same conditions also apply during the personal interview. Candidates must have enough knowledge and details about what job should be taken into consideration. If we mark all the points mentioned below then most of the difficulties can be managed easily and timely.
There are some of the strategies which we should consider during group discussions or personal interviews which might help us a lot in increasing our responsiveness and lead to a healthy discussion. If adopted then it leads to overcome any challenge or panic:
- Speak pleasantly
- Respect the contribution of other speakers
- Understand the ideas of other speakers
- Try to disagree politely
- Respect that others have differing views
- Think about your contribution before you speak
- Try to stick to the discussion topic
- You should be friendly
- Be ready to accept new ideas
Group discussions are also majorly divided into 2 types:
- Topic based GD’s
- Case based GD’s
Topic based GD can further be classified into
- Factual Topics
- Controversial Topics
- Abstract Topics
But there is no such predefined difficulty level for group discussions or interviews as difficulty differs from one to another according to their knowledge and problem solving skills. Past research has shown that tougher interviews lead to better hires, but what exactly is it that makes interviews challenging? In a new analysis, we dug in to identify the features of job interviews that make them difficult. The thing which makes an interview tough is the candidate’s confidence, skills, and desire to achieve a job.
I have some good as well as bad memories of my past interviews and group discussions which I wish I could change. I would like to talk about an instance when it was my first PI round and I was just entering the room of the interviewers. I went to them and offered them to shake hands which completely destroyed my first impression and eventually they considered me over-confident and rejected me with remarks of improvement in personal attitude.
So, I just want to address that we need to be somewhat confident, polite, knowledgeable, calm, and answer every question before thinking twice.
