These days, finding a suitable job as per our interest is a difficult task. The reasons behind this are numerous such as salary expectations, workload, geographical location, etc. Many employees feel that they are underpaid or due to work pressure and deadlines they are not able to make a balance between their professional and personal life, resulting in resignation for a better opportunity. Switching company in the corporate world is common as individuals consider this is a way by which they could grow in terms of knowledge and expertise.

Everyone wants a job in a reputed organisation to get better exposure, learning and opportunity as per their skill and interest. However, the primary question that everyone asks is what are those skills that an employer in the corporate sector is looking for? The knowledge of this is essential to analyse one’s interest, develop the skill, and look for a suitable job in the reputed organisation. It is important to update knowledge of the market scenario while pursuing higher studies, so in case of any requirement as per the situation or demand, one must work further enhancing the skills.

The required qualification is the first step for being eligible for a particular job role. Apart from academics, one must take part in various seminars, workshop, conferences, etc. This would help to make the network (people from different work fields) this, in turn, would not only help in getting information about any vacancy but also provide guidance form experts of the respective fields. Networking plays a key role in professional life, one could do it either online or offline. This method is very useful only not for fresher but for the experienced personnel too.

Apart from networking, documentation should be impressive, i.e. resume and cover letter must be properly written in a professional format and these two documents should be different while applying to several organisations. Both the document should be prepared to keep in mind the organisation as well as the job vacancy. The professional resume must include only essential details such as objectives, interest, qualification and achievements and not hobbies, marital status, etc.

Good communication skills are expected by the employer, hence, the candidate should groom their vocabulary and pronunciation. The simplest way to so improvise these is to read an English newspaper, watch the news, and converse with peers in English only.       

There are various sources by which one could be aware of the job vacancies. These are local advertisements, newspapers, websites, college career centre, networking, etc.

Finally, after getting shortlisted, the candidate should prepare for the interview properly and appear for the same confidently.
