  • Proper analysis of the exam: Before commencing your preparation, identify what exactly is asked in the exam, what it focuses on and what exactly is the pattern. VITEEE asks objective type questions which are application based and test thinking abilities.
  • Emphasize on clearing basics: VIT entrance exam covers the syllabus of State Board of Higher Secondary School along with the CBSE syllabus. Thus, first cover the entire syllabus of the NCERTs as they help in laying good foundation. Once you have completed these books, you can then refer other books.
  • Identify the topics which are most important: One cannot dare to be selective in his studies while planning to take an elite exam like VITEEE. However, you can just identify the most important sections so that you can work harder on those areas. Some of the topics which fetch maximum number of questions include:

- Physics: Concentrate more on topics like Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Effects of Electric Current, Electromagnetic Induction and semiconductor devices.

- Chemistry: NCERT is best suited for the preparation of Inorganic Chemistry. Focus particularly on areas like Atomic Structure, Electrochemistry, Biomolecules, Organic Nitrogen Compounds, Alcohols and Ethers.

- Mathematics: The areas which demand maximum attention include Vector Algebra, Analytical Geometry of Three Dimensions, Integral Calculus and its Applications.

  • Make a schedule: Do not start studying in a chaotic manner. Make a proper schedule considering the time left with you and the topics to be covered. Scheduled-study is more likely to yield better results than an unplanned one.
  • Practice, practice and practice: Hard work is the only key to success. Practice as much as you can. Solve numerous questions as this helps in improving your speed and brushes the concepts. It is only with practice that one gets to know the different approaches of attempting questions.
  • Further your problem solving skills: While practicing questions, focus on all the possible methods of problem solving and apply shortcut methods to save time. Attempting questions with emphasis on fundamentals ignites the thinking processes and aids in nurturing the analytical skills.
  • Work on your thinking ability: In order to crack VITEEE, one needs to work on his thinking ability. The exam just tests your reasoning capacity and those who are rational can easily ace this exam.
  • Prepare flash cards/ revision notes: While going through the chapters jot down the important points separately and prepare your revision notes or flash cards. These notes are really helpful especially in the final days when you don’t have sufficient time to go through the entire stuff again.
  • Devote morning hours to complicated and hard subjects: Morning time is the most refreshing time and the environment is also calm. Try to grasp the intricate concepts in the morning hours when the mind is fresh. One feels lazy in the afternoon, and so chalk out your plan in such a way that even the afternoon hours don’t go waste. Like, you may study some practical subject or solve questions in the afternoon.
  • Mock Tests/ Sample Papers: Previous year papers of VITEEE are imperative in the sense that they help in knowing the trend of questions asked in the exam. After covering certain portion of syllabus, refer the past year papers and try attempting the questions. This will also help you in identifying your weak points so that you can work on them. Solve tons of last year papers as they will also help in improving your accuracy.
  • Consistent revision is a must: Keep on revising the areas already covered after some days. Matter does not get stored in memory permanently. We tend to forget after some time as the memory fades away gradually. So cover some section of one subject, switch to the other subject and then again revise the first subject.
  • Time Management: Time management is of utmost importance. Just intelligence and hard work won’t let you win the race until you are able to manage your time well. VIT entrance exam expects you to answer good number of questions in the given time frame. So work more on your speed.
  • Plan frequent breaks: Cracking VITEEE demands hard work but not 24-hours work! Plan out your time-table efficiently but take short breaks. Go out for morning walks, watch your favorite shows and lead a normal life. Take out 15-30 minutes for yoga. This helps in reducing the stress level and improves retention power.

Chalk out your study plan and start preparing form the moment itself. Just work hard on improving your speed and analytical skills.
