No, it is not hard to get admission at Gujarat University. The university offer undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), diploma, certificate and PhD courses to students in streams such as Arts, Commerce, Science, Education, Law and Medicine & Health Sciences. Admission is based on merit and entrance exams. The university accepts national entrance exams such as CAT, MAT, and others. Aspiring candidates must qualify the eligibility criteria set by the university for the desired course.

BAOU offers admission to UG and PG programmes based on their merit in the last qualifying exam. Hence, aspirants do not require passing an entrance test. The selection is done purely based on merit. Aspirants only need to meet the eligibility requirement and apply for the preferred course to get admission in the university. Once the selection is done, candidates have to pay the course fee to confirm their seat in the university.

The university conducts entrance exams for admission to courses, including BFA, BPT, BOPTM, BSc (Nursing), etc. Admission to the MBBS course at VNSGU is based on the NEET-UG score. If the candidate wants to get admission in Central University of Gujarat, he has to clear CUET-PG for the same as the university grants admission on merit basis only. Saurashtra University offers MA in Sociology as a full-time regular programme.  The candidate must have in BA Sociology/BA (Hons) Sociology or should have done their BA in a similar field from a recognised university and should have secured a valid percentage.
