First, let’s talk a little about Interviews
Interviews are a life-changing process for a person. Interviews are the brick wall that acts as a barrier between you and your dream job.
It is always important to prepare for the interview so that one could respond effectively to the questions that employers ask. Honestly, these questions are so common and the hiring managers expect the candidate to answer them smoothly and without any hesitation.
There is no need to memorise or learn the answers, however, it is always important to think about the answers and this could only be done when one prepare in advance.
The basic questions asked in an interview are given below
Tell me about yourself?
The interviewer wants to know why you're a perfect fit for that job. With my experience, I would advise to try and answer questions about you without giving too much personal information. You could start by sharing some of your interests and experiences that do not relate directly to work, such as a hobby or an account of where you grew up, your education and what motivates you the most.
For example
Thank you, Sir, for this opportunity. As an individual, I perceive myself as a confident and hardworking individual. I carry out any task assigned to me without hesitation or nervousness, provided the instructions are clear. In the case of any doubt, I never hesitate to put forth my questions. I have always been a fast learner, and I love to keep up with my process of learning and hardworking to figure out better ways of solving problems. Moreover, I love to compete with my past performances than competing with my mates, as I believe that improvement is always better than perfection.
Why do you want to work here?
Always do your research and point to something that makes that company unique and appeals to you. Talk about how you have watched the company grow and change since you first heard of it. Focus on the organization’s opportunities for future growth and how you can contribute to it. And if one could not figure out the reason to work with the company then it might not be the best fit.
What motivates you?
“Meeting the given target within an assigned deadline motivates me the most. Overall, I like to achieve milestones, so that I can look back at them and say to myself, ‘Yes, this is what I achieved with my hard work.’ Visible results also motivate me a lot.”
Why are you perfect for this position?
My skill-set is a perfect fit for the job requirements. In particular, my sales skills and managerial experience make me an ideal candidate for the position you are offering. For example, at my previous job, I managed a Sales Team of five to six employees, and we had the top sales record of our company branch. I could bring my successes and experiences to this organization’s and my growth.
What are your weaknesses?
My greatest weakness is that I do not like getting interrupted when I am working on something. Another weakness of mine is that I do not have very good handwriting. As I already said, I am a very patient person, so I am actively working on this weakness.
Explain the difference between group and team. Are you a team player?
“Yes, I am. During my summer internship, my friends and I were working together. We had a group of members with varied skills and we delivered results which would have been impossible to deliver individually. I had to keep all my communication channels open at all times so that I could ensure that the project stayed on track. I was responsible for my part of the code and also for the collective delivery of the whole project. I worked closely with senior team members to keep my work on track. In the end, I was able to deliver on time and within the given budget.”
What are your strengths?
“I am not one of those people who leave things midway. I never lose focus, even if I am under stress or have deadlines to meet. I like to finish every single task on my list completely. I also have good communication skills which means I could deal quite well with our business clients as well as with the members of the team, in the future. Based on my skills, abilities, and experience, I am sure I can be a great addition to the team.”
Why should we hire you?
Sir, I have great communication skills, desired experience, and the required skill-set for this job role. If I get a chance to showcase my abilities, I will leave no stone unturned with my commitment to hard work, smart work and dedication.”
Group Discussion (GD)
GD is a discussion which takes place between a bunch of students and interviewers.
The interviewers would give a topic to speak about and whom they would think is to the point is going to be selected.
The main points to keep in mind are:
- Always talk on the point
- Do not get distracted
- Do not be overconfident
- Do not get rude to the fellow competitors
- Always politely put your points without insulting the other participants
Here, we will be discussing some of the GD topics that I have given in my past interviews.
Corruption is a necessary evil
If you are speaking in the favour
Corruption has been prevailing within the systems of India since 1947. Without bribery, no job could get done. All the reports and news about the recent scam underlines this harsh truth. Corruption rules with a very strong hold in every aspect of India and also in our lives, as the citizens of India.
If you are speaking against the topic (you could always use a quote to explain your points, the below is given by US Senator Joe Biden)
Corruption is a kind of cancer, a cancer that eats away a citizen's faith in a democracy and made the instinct for innovation and creativity less valuable. It wastes the talent of this entire generation. It also tends to scare away investments and jobs.
Technology is killing the human imagination
Favour
I believe technology has completely replaced creativity with piracy. Computers and the excessive use of technology have restricted the sphere of knowledge and creativity to the screen. This has minimised the application of human creativity and imagination in all spheres.
Neither any thesis nor academic writing original because the computer and the internet has made it very easy to access academic information or thesis at any given point in time. Special effect has eliminated human imagination and creativity
Against
No, I believe technology improves communication and helps in getting new ideas.
It is a platform for talent.
Technology has made various innovations possible in fields as diverse as music, entertainment and film-making. It has expanded the scope and power of the human imagination by enhancing the limits to which one could go in the creative process and not otherwise.
From science to health, technology has made every innovation possible
Technology has a big role in helping human imagination grow
