Do try to complete the syllabus a few days before the exam and practice with MCQs in the book or online and also do some model test papers. While doing the model test papers, try setting the time limit so that you can get an idea about your speed and you can improve in case of any delay.

As a former aspirant, I can understand how tiring entrance exams’ preparation can be as the pattern and syllabus of such exams. I will be sharing my Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test (IPU CET) experience and some tips and tricks for appearing IPU CET admission in Law course. I gave the entrance in 2016 and I scored rank. I am currently a fourth-year student at Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies, which is among the top-ranking colleges of IP University.
There are various other entrance exams that you can give for admission in law colleges such as Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), All India Law Entrance Test (AILET), and many state universities conduct their own entrance for admission in Law colleges. I am from Delhi so IPU CET suited me well as the colleges of IP University are in the National Capital Region (Delhi-NCR) only which makes commute easy.

The forms of CET releases on IP University’s website in March and the exam is conducted in May. Preparation time is good enough if you can focus well. There are many books available that can help for overall preparation, the best of them are CLAT and LLB Entrance Books by Arihant and Universal. The syllabus consists of Legal Aptitude, General Knowledge, Reasoning and English Language and Comprehension. All the subjects carry equal weightage. The books are full of concepts from these topics and help get a better understanding. Be sure to be well-versed with current affairs, both general and legal. The exam does have negative marking so I would suggest you not to answer questions in which you are dicey because then instead of gaining marks, you might lose some. The exam is conducted in offline mode and consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) only. The time limit for completing the exam is two hours and thirty minutes.

For the preparation of the topic Legal Aptitude, do keep in mind the legal maxims which are in Latin. The questions are not too deep in this topic as a non-law student is not expected to know such things in detail. Also, make sure you know some landmark cases that are currently changing a lot in our country such as the Triple Talaq, Nirbhaya case and also the star topic of these days CAA and NRC.

Do try to complete the syllabus a few days before the exam and practice with MCQs in the book or online and also do some model test papers. While doing the model test papers, try setting the time limit so that you can get an idea about your speed and you can improve in case of any delay. The reasoning questions usually take more time so be sure to practice them well beforehand as the pattern of such questions is the same so if you crack the pattern, it will be easy for you to quickly solve the questions at that time.
