CAP TEST 2026: Registration, Dates, Online Interview, Syllabus, Pattern & Results

Communication Aptitude Test or CAP Test is conducted by Amrita School of Communication, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. This entrance exam allows admission to various mass communication courses at its Coimbatore & Kochi campus. The entrance exam evaluates students from different backgrounds based on their interest, potential and aptitude for the communication course. Candidates are offered the following courses through CAP Test.

CAP Test Eligibility Criteria for BA in Communication

Amrita School offers BA in Communication in two specializations.

• BA (Hons) with Research in Mass Communication with Minor in Business Management and Media - Candidates must have passed higher secondary school certificate or 10+2 (in any stream, namely, science/ commerce/ humanities) from a recognized board with minimum of 50% marks.
• B. A. (Hons) with Research in Mass Communication with Minor in Digital Design and Animation - Candidates must have passed higher secondary school certificate or 10+2 (in any stream, namely, science/ commerce/ humanities) from a recognized board with minimum of 50% marks.

CAP Test Eligibility Criteria for MA in Communication

Candidates looking for admission in MA in Mass Communication must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

M.A. in Communication

• 1 Year PG Diploma for candidates who have completed their 4 year B.A. (Hons) in any stream with minimum 50% marks.
• 2 Year PG Diploma for candidates who have completed their 3 year B.A. (Hons) in any stream with minimum 50% marks.

M.A. in Journalism & Communication

• Candidates must have completed graduate in any discipline with 50% marks.

M.A. in Visual Media & Communication

• Candidates must have completed graduate in any discipline with 50% marks.

CAP Test Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D in Communication

Candidates planning to pursue to Ph.D in Communication at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham must ensure to fulfill the eligibility criteria of the institute. The academic requirements for CAP Test for admission in Ph.D include following.

Masters in Communication/ Mass Communication/ Visual Communication/ Journalism, or any other relevant field. Apart from this, candidates must also have a strong academic record. It includes a competitive score in standardized graduate aptitude tests like GATE, etc.

Register with your Email

Visit the official website of Amrita School of Communication at amrita.edu/school/communication. Click on the programme you wish to apply for (UG, PG, Diploma, Phd). Click on 'Apply Now' to register as a 'New Candidate' by providing the required details like name, mobile number, and email ID. Enter the Otp received on the provided email ID to complete the registration.

Enter Personal Information

Once registered, enter your personal details like Name, Gender, Date of Birth, NRI & Social Status, Nationality, and Contact Details. Save the details, preview the provided information, and click on 'Next'. Refer to the below image.

Candidates willing to appear for the CAP Test will have to make sure that they fill in the CAP Test application form before the deadline. Forms received after the last date of receiving of applications will be rejected by the authorities.

Fill in the application form by entering details like:

Pay the Application Fee

Candidates will have to pay for the application to complete the form-filling process. The application fee of INR 500 needs to be paid in online mode only. 

Provide the Academic Details

Candidates will be required to provide their academic details such as percentage of class 10, 12 and graduation (in case of applying for PG). 

Upload the Documents

Candidates will also have to upload their documents such as academic certificates, passport-size photographs, etc.

Submit the form

Candidates will have to preview the registered details and submit the application form. After that they will get an acknowledgment of completion of registration process by mail.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has not yet announced the exam structure for the 2026 admission cycle. But, as per last year, CAP Test will be followed by an online interview. Hence, candidates may be asked questions regarding their educational background, general awareness, etc. However, the Amrita School of Communication has specified certain subjects or topics for the CAP Test from which questions have been asked in the entrance examination held earlier. The Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham releases CAP Test 2026 pattern on the official website. As per the official exam pattern, the CAP Test question paper has multiple choice questions. The test paper is divided in different sections. Check the table to know marks-wise distribution of each section.

Aspirants who successfully submit the application form for the CAP Test will have to appear for an online interview. The final selection of the candidates will be made based on their performance in the interview. For admission to mass communication courses, candidates will have to follow the process:

Candidates will have to appear for an online interview. The details of the date and time of the interview were provided to candidates on their registered email ID. Questions in the interview will be based on the candidate's profile and current affairs.

Check CAP Test result

A merit list of candidates to be provisionally admitted to each course will be prepared on the basis of the score obtained in online interview.

Pay the Course fee

Successful candidates are given some time to secure their admission by depositing the prescribed fees online alongwith the necessary documents.
