What is SAT India?
SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) is a standardised undergraduate university admission test conducted by the College Board for offering admission to candidates in universities of the US and Canada. SAT 2020 is also accepted by some universities/ colleges in the UK and Australia. Apart from international universities/ colleges, the exam is also accepted for admission in more than 20 colleges in India.
SAT 2020 comprises a Reading Test, a Writing and Language Test, and Math Test. Apart from these, candidates may also appear for subject-specific tests.
SAT exam is conducted five times a year in India – March, May, August, October, and December. In Fall 2020, SAT India Subject Tests are also available in November, The College Board under the College Board India Scholars Programme offers SAT scholarships to Indian students.
The SAT India exam is conducted to measure university readiness as well as predict the future academic success of a student from India seeking admission in undergraduate programs at various educational institutions in India and abroad.

SAT India Scholarships
With an aim to form a consortium of educational institutions, the College Board has joined hands with few premier Universities in India. This consortium known as the India Global Alliance offers Indian educational institutions an opportunity to engage with some of the world's top-notch universities including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Columbia University, Cambridge University, McGill University, etc.
Universities, which are a part of the India Global Alliance, accept SAT scores for admissions.
SAT India Eligibility Criteria for Scholarships
To be eligible for SAT scholarships, aspirants must fulfill the below-mentioned criteria:
- Be a resident of India
- Be a Class 12 student for the 2019-2020 session
- Have an annual household income of less than Rs 8 Lakhs
- Be a Top Performer in SAT exam (score of 1300+ out of 1600)
- Apply for admission to participating Indian universities
- Get admission offer and enroll at a participating Indian university
SAT India Fee Reduction Vouchers
SAT test fee discount/ scholarship is offered to candidates who meet the below-mentioned eligibility criteria
Criteria 1: SAT 90% discount voucher & 100% tuition fees scholarship
Candidates need to meet the below-mentioned eligibility criteria to avail this discount voucher:

Q. What is SAT?
A. Scholastic Assessment Test or SAT is an entrance exam whose scores are accepted by all US and many other international universities and colleges. Apart from this, Indian Universities that are a part of the India Higher Education Global Alliance initiative of the College Board also accept SAT for admissions. SAT exam is administered four times in a given year in India. The exam is usually conducted in the months of March, May, August, October and December.
Q. What is College Board India Scholars Programme?
A. Aspirants who score 1,300 out of 1600 in the SAT exam are recognised as College Board India Top Performers by the College Board. Students whose names feature among the top performers such that they belong to families with financial constraint are eligible to apply for 100% scholarship in college tuition fees. Candidates need to be in Class 12 when they appear for the SAT exam in order to be eligible for scholarships.

Q. What is a good score in SAT India exam?
A. A good SAT score depends on who you are and what you want to do with your score. If you’re a junior taking the SAT for the first time, any score is a good score because it gives you valuable information about the academic areas you need to work on. Then you can focus on improving those areas and take the SAT again. If you are a senior applying to college, a good score depends on where you’re applying and what the rest of your application says about you (like your GPA, your extracurricular, and your personal essay, etc.) Typically, universities’ websites mention a range of scores that they typically select a majority of their class. This range is a good indicator of score that meets that university’s criteria. Therefore, visit the website of the colleges/universities you are interested to apply to and check out their admission requirement.
Q. How many times can a test taker take SAT?
A. There is no limit to the number of times you can take the SAT. You can take the SAT as many times as you like. We conduct these exams five times in a year, you can start writing it from grade 8 and technically, a student has 25 attempts until class 12.
Q. Can I take the SAT if I have not taken Math in Class 11?
A. Yes, you can take the SAT India exam even if you have not studied Math after Class 10. In fact, the Mathematics section the exam tests students only on topics taught till Class 10.
