SAT India 2026 Syllabus for Mathematics

The Math section focuses on the following areas:

  • Algebra
  • Advanced Math
  • Problem-Solving and Data Analysis
  • Geometry and Trigonometry

Approximately 30% of the Math section's questions are set in context. These in-context ("word") questions require you to consider a science, social studies, or real-world scenario and apply your math skills and knowledge, along with an understanding of the context, to determine the answer to each.

SAT India Syllabus 2026 for Reading and Writing Section

The Reading and Writing section presents short reading passages (or passage pairs) followed by a single multiple-choice question. The passages in the Reading and Writing section range from 25 to 150 words. Passages represent the subject areas of:

  • Literature
  • History/social studies
  • Humanities
  • Science

Questions on the Reading and Writing section represent one of four content domains:

Craft and Structure: Measures the comprehension, vocabulary, analysis, synthesis, and reasoning skills and knowledge needed to understand and use high-utility words and phrases in context, evaluate texts rhetorically, and make connections between topically related texts.

Information and Ideas: Measures comprehension, analysis, and reasoning skills and knowledge, as well as the ability to locate, interpret, evaluate, and integrate information and ideas from texts and informational graphics (tables, bar graphs, and line graphs).

Standard English Conventions: Measures the ability to edit text to conform to core conventions of Standard English sentence structure, usage, and punctuation.

Expression of Ideas: Measures the ability to revise texts to improve the effectiveness of written expression and to meet specific rhetorical goals.

Here are 5 simple tips to help you get a great score on the SAT India 2026:

  • Practice on the computer: Download the official Bluebook app on your laptop or tablet to practice exactly how the real test will look.
  • Learn the built-in calculator: Get very comfortable using the Bluebook app, the calculator inside the test, to solve hard math problems quickly.
  • Get the first part right: The test changes based on how you do. Do well on the first half to unlock the higher-scoring second half.
  • Never leave blanks: There is no negative marking on the SAT. If you run out of time, guess every remaining question.
  • Read for context: Do not just memorise long word lists. Instead, practice figuring out what words mean by reading the sentences around them.
