The IIM Council has held a meeting in New Delhi on 2nd November, 2011 between the directors of 13 IIMs and Union HRD minister, Kapil Sibal. The IIM Council has taken a decision under which 13 IIMs will share admission information from this year onwards to ease the pressure on students. It will also make sure that no seat in the new IIMs remains vacant.

These 13 IIMs will also post their individual admission criteria on their respective websites. The IIM Council has also agreed upon exploring the possibilities of offering academic programmes in areas like health, education and infrastructure.

With the intention of attracting overseas students without affecting the national intake and promote diversity in the campus, the IIMs have decided to organize a road show jointly using their resources.

While evaluating the process of investing greater autonomy on IIMs, it has been also noticed that the revised Memoranda of Association and Rules of IIM Ahmedabad are at the final stage. It has been also decided in the meeting that there should be an external review of each IIMs which could be discussed in the IIM-Council every three years.
