5 quick last month revision tips for IIFT 2015
Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) entrance test will be held on November 23, 2014. The test is conducted for admission to MBA in International Business programme.
Thatβs less than three weeks for candidates to prepare!
Generally the exam has 120 to 135 questions to be attempted in 120 minutes. The exam has negative marking, deducting 1/3rd marks allotted to each question. Also, there is no consistent marking throughout the paper. Questions in different sections have different marks.
Make sure to take a look at previous yearsβ paper and understand the exam structure, keeping in mind the varied marking scheme. Here are few quick revision and preparation tips for IIFT MBA (IB) aspirants:
1. Speed
Last year IIFT paper had a total of 128 questions, spread over four sections, with a negative marking of 1/3rd of the marks allotted to the question. The main crux of this exam is speed. Candidates have to increase speed and attempt maximum standard questions in less than 80 seconds per question. Therefore, selection of questions is the key!
2. Selection
Selection of the right questions is important. One cannot afford to spend more than one minute on each question. Choosing the right questions and answering them quickly is the key here. Move on to the next question quickly if you find it lengthy. Also remember, IIFT exam has a history of presenting five to six questions with no correct answer choices. Try to recognise them beforehand.
3. No new topics
In these last few days, do not attempt to learn new topics or attempt topics which you are not comfortable with. This is the time to revise your topics, revise familiar questions and leave non-familiar questions behind.
4. CAT topics
Revising basic CAT topics is important. IIFT has the history of reconstructing CAT questions. So it is essential to revise all the core topics in Data Interpretation and Quantitative Ability such as Trigonometry & Statistics, Line, Bar, Pie graphs, Tables, etc.
5. GK prep
While preparing for GK, keep in mind the pattern of questions asked in the previous years. Go through top news stories and static general awareness questions. Try to prepare the topics through books, newspapers, periodicals and articles, etc.
