CAT 2013: Student profiles IIMs tend to select
It is January 14 and the CAT results are finally out. Eight candidates have scored 100 percentile while ten are in the 99.9 percentile bracket. Often students fumble over what to do after the results. Relax, do not fret. Go through our article on CAT 2013: What after results? If you managed to score well, all you can do is wait for that call โ the call from the top IIMs that can change your destiny. Then there are other top colleges accepting CAT scores such as Faculty of Management Studies, S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research, Management Development Institute (MDI), National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) and so on.

Each college has their own selection criteria for admission (Understand the short-listing criteria of all 13 IIMs). We decided to speak to some alumni of the top IIMs and figure out the selection trends prevalent from the last few years:

Known to admit toppers or students with excellent academic records. Traditionally, IIM A pass outs are known to be good at Quant, marketing, logical skills, general and verbal skills. |

Gives preference to good work experience and entrepreneurs. So if your CAT score is 95% but you have a terrific work profile, you can hope to get a call. |
| IIM Calcutta |
Focus is on quant and mathematics, extra-curricular, apart from the overall percentile. Their Finance is supposed to be strong |
| IIM Lucknow |
Here too, focus is on quant and mathematics, apart from the overall percentile. Finance is the strong zone |
