IIM Lucknow

The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIM Lucknow) has taken the reins from Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM Bangalore) to conduct CAT 2017. The national level common entrance exam for MBA admissions was conducted by IIM Bangalore last year.

IIM Lucknow will be conducting CAT after a gap of seven years. It had earlier conducted CAT in 2010. Professor Neeraj Dwivedi has been appointed as CAT 2017 convener.

Over 2 lakh MBA aspirants are expected to take this year’s exam, which is the gateway to all the IIM campuses and other top B-schools in India. Though there is no change in exam pattern this year, alteration in the level of difficulty is expected. If reports are to be believed, the exam conducting body plans to bring down the difficulty level of the Quantitative Ability section to allow non-engineers to perform well. This may be seen as IIM Lucknow’s efforts to allow a level playing field to bring more diversity. The CAT conducting body for the past few years has constantly made efforts to increase gender and academic diversity in classrooms. Check CAT 2017 syllabus

The schedule of CAT 2017 will be announced by July end. Registrations will continue till October 2017 and the exam will be held in November/December 2017. The exam will be conducted at 138 centres across the country in partnership with TCS.

In 2016, the exam was held on December 4, 2017, in two sessions. About 2.32 lakh aspirants registered for the exam and 1.95 lakh appeared for it. This year too, the number of aspirants is expected to go above 2 lakh.

CAT 2017 will be followed by WAT-PI and GD/PI conducted by each IIM campus individually. Those who will clear these rounds will be offered admission.
