IIM Bangalore Cutoff 2020

Accepting CAT as the primary exam for admission, IIMs do not release CAT cutoffs publically as their cutoffs are accessible only via account login to candidates who appear for the exam. A lot of news websites including the official IIM websites, however, publish the qualifying cutoffs. But students must note that that there are two types of CAT cutoffs for admission to IIMs – qualifying cutoff (or shortlist cutoff) and final cutoff (or call cutoff). While the qualifying cutoff is announced with the release of admission policy (for particular IIMs), the latter is announced (not publicly) post result declaration.

IIM Bangalore CAT Cutoff 2020: Released

IIM Bangalore aspirants must know that the call CAT cutoff 2020 is always higher than the qualifying cutoff. Also, IIMs accept both sectional and overall cutoff for admission. For IIM Bangalore PGP admission 2021, the overall qualifying cutoff for General category students is 80 percentile, however, it is expected that IIM Bangalore final CAT cutoff 2020 will be ranging between 99-100 percentile.

After gathering information from multiple sources on the internet, we have come up with an expected final CAT cutoff 2020 for top IIMs and non-IIMs. The below graph compares the minimum final cutoff (expected) required by top Management institutes (ranging between 95 and 100 percentile):

IIM Bangalore Admission Process

IIM Bangalore admission process for the flagship MBA programme is based on the scores obtained by candidates CAT exam. International students, however, need a valid score in GMAT exam. For other courses, admission is based on valid scores in national-level entrance exams. Candidates seeking admission are required to apply online. For PGP (or MBA), candidates are required to apply via the official website of CAT while for the remaining courses, candidates are required to apply via IIM Bangalore official website. A detailed course wise admission process is mentioned below:”

  • Admission to the flagship course PGP (MBA) of IIMB is based on a valid score in CAT exam followed by a PI-WAT round.
  • The shortlisting criteria for its PGP (MBA) programme got changed for admission 2020 as the institute reduced its CAT cutoff score by 5 percentile for the first stage shortlisting (for each category)
  • For EPGP, candidates must have a valid score in GMAT or GRE exam along with a Statement of Purpose (SOP), in which they are required to highlight their future goals and achievements
  • For admission to PGPEM (2-year weekend MBA) or PGPPM (MMS in Public Policy), candidates must have a valid score in one among CAT/GMAT/GRE or IIMB test followed by a personal interview round
  • PhD admission to IIM Bangalore is based on a valid score in IIMB Test conducted by IIM Bangalore. However, those with a valid score in one among GMAT, GRE, CAT, GATE or JRF (NET) can apply directly and are required to go through a compulsory interview round.
