Oakbrook Business School

I secured 9.4 CGPA in Class 10 and I was thinking of taking up Science in Class 11 and 12 but my parents advised me to opt for Commerce instead. Then I consulted my teachers they also suggested that I go for Commerce. So I chose Commerce with Computers in Class 11 and 12. In my Graduation, wanted to do BCom and then pursue MBA. But in my hometown Bhilwara, there wasn’t any good college for MBA. So my parents and I decided that Ahmedabad will be good for me. I did an internet search for good MBA colleges in Ahmedabad.

Then I contacted few people to know more about MBA colleges in Ahmedabad. I visited Oakbrook Business School and liked its campus a lot. Even the faculty members whom I talked to were very helpful. They guided me very well. Then I spoke to the Campus Reporter of OBS at that time. She told me a lot about OBS and gave me all the required information. I was afraid that she might have not given me true information but when I met the college faculty member, I was pretty much confident about my decision to choose Oakbrook Business School for my post-graduation.

How I cracked college admission

Taking admission in Oakbrook Business School was quite easy. I took CMAT exam as it is mandatory for admission in every GTU affiliated college. I took coaching for CMAT and prepared rigorously. I used to solve problems of Logical Reasoning (LR), Reading Comprehension (RC), and Maths (QA) and also read newspapers for General Knowledge (GK).  As I was an outsider, which means I did my schooling and Graduation outside Gujarat. Since, I was facing difficulty on that front, I contacted Oakbrook Business School’s administration department and got myself enrolled in its MBA programme.

Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur

Poornima University, Jaipur

Poddar International College, Jaipur

I even got selected in Faculty of Management Studies, Udaipur and was shortlisted for interview in Shanti Business School, Ahmedabad.

Before joining, I enquired about Oakbrook Business School and I got positive response from everywhere. Even though it is a new college but it is doing well and I believe I made a right decision by joining this college.

Life at my college

We usually have 5 lectures a day which start at 9:30 am and get over at 4.30 pm. There are 2 breaks in between one short break for 15 minutes and another one for 45 minutes. The classroom teaching is very interactive. I like to attend all the lectures unless I am not well. Faculty members at OBS help students overcome their fears by helping them in each possible way. We people enjoy our time at canteen and sometimes during our free lectures.

If you are part of Oakbrook Business School that means you are a part of one or the other cultural or ECA society. We have all the celebrations at OBS like Republic Day, Independence Day, Diwali celebration, Garba Celebration, etc. I take part in every activity. Our college festival is called Oak Fiesta in which all the cultural activities happen. OBS organizes various conclaves like HR Conclave, Marketing Conclave, Entrepreneurship Conclave, Finance Conclave, etc. We also have Sports Day every year in which many games like Basketball, Volleyball, Cricket, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Table-Tennis, etc. are played.

In 2017, OBS organized National Conference that was a true learning for its students. This year there is an International National Conferences where all the researchers will come and present their research papers and experiences with students and corporate people.

If given a chance I want to open a music club and also organize matches or leagues and encourage students to participate in all these kind of activities. As an individual, the college taught me the importance and value of teamwork; and how to handle a team. The college has also taught me how to manage time. I am focusing on learning time management as once you excel in that, everything in life becomes easy to handle.
