Quick Tips to ace Pre Interview Test

Given TISS’s proclivity for social aptitude, it is important for candidates to customize their preparations accordingly.  Here we have shared a few tips to help you with your preparations.

  1. Read Editorials: Read four to five editorials daily from the newspapers such as The Indian Express and The Hindu. Make a list of current socio-political and socio-economic issues affecting the country at large. Try to gather all the relevant information pertaining to these issues. As you consume more info, it will be easier for you to add more quality to your essays and reduce repetition.
  2. Know your subject: Read important issues pertaining to your course. If you are eyeing HRM & LR Programme, identify your core strengths and combine this skill set with the core competencies of HR. Make an exhaustive list of the topics that can be asked in PIT for the given course.
  3. Write a well-structured essay: You can be asked to write a 200-word essay or in some cases, no word limit would be mentioned. Candidates should prepare for both possibilities. Divide your writing in three paragraphs — intro, body and conclusion.
  • Keep your proses simple and crisp
  • Avoid use of jargons
  • Focus on content
  1. Practise in a time-bound manner: Timing is a crucial part of essay writing preparation. There are times when we start off spectacularly but fail to maintain the neatness while ending the article. You should also spare little time to proofread the article before submitting it. So, make a list of 20-25 important topics and start practicing in a time-bound manner.
  2. PEST Analysis: To cover all the important angles related to your topic, you can opt for PEST (Political, Economic, Social and Technological) analysis of your write-up. This will help you maintain consistency in your article and ensure that you do not digress from the given subject. Try to focus on presenting every facet of the issue in a constructive and measured manner without bringing in your own biases.

Note: PIT round will be followed by Personal Interview round. The interviewers evaluate candidates’ interpersonal skills, their understanding of the course and their academic records.
